This week, we learned that Degrassi's summer finale movie was originally meant to end with some high intensity drama:

Caitlin cheats on Joey with Snake
Joey marries Tessa
after getting her pregnant
& Lucy dies in a car accident after Wheels drives drunk

Each of these moments would have had a huge impact on the future of Degrassi: The Next Generation. It makes you wonder:

What would have happened to Craig?
Would Joey/Tessa's baby go to Degrassi Community School?
Would Joey/Caitlin still have an off-again/on-again relationship

Let's discuss the big changes made between the original outline and the final made-for-tv movie released in 1992

Answer one of the following questions in the comments: 👇
1. Pick a topic (Joey's marriage, Caitlin's cheating, Lucy's death): How does this impact the future of Degrassi: The Next Generation? 💍

2. Why do you think Tessa's opinion about abortion changed so drastically? What could have happened if Tessa secretly had Joey's baby? 🍼

3. What parallels do you see between Joey's story with Tessa/Caitlin and Craig's storyline with Ashley/Manny in The Next Generation? ⛸️

While Lucy sadly isnt too involved with the reboot I'm very happy they decided not to kill her. I'm also really happy Snake&Joey are still friends ; as an adult rewatching their friendship is one of my favorites and something I wish I had. I love that they made so many changes because the OG version would've really made people mad and it would've changed too much good stuff.

I agree! The first draft seems so dark and heavy! Really life isn't always going to result in happy endings but it's also not just entirely filled with tragedies LOL! Knowing we know know from The Mother of All Degrassi Book, I wonder if this darker ending to School's Out was a little more reflective of what it was like behind the scenes.
