New Things on New Texturelabs! (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

Some cool items to share with you as the month wraps up!

I’m gonna throw caution into the wind and see if I can deliver them to you via a secret Patreon-only version of the updated website:

It's currently password-protected, but I’ve created a login for all active Patrons (as of Thursday, Sept 28th at 2PM PST) using the following:

• Email: the email address associated with your Patreon account
• Password: your email address before the “@domain.com” part

NOTE: I imported all Patreon users on Thursday, Sept 28th at 2PM PST. Patreon does not link with the new site - I have to add accounts manually. If you've signed up for Patreon after this time, send me an email at texturelabsorg@gmail.com and I'll create a login for you

Once logged in, check out the TEXTURELABS TOOLS section. Any tools that are not free have a Free Patreon Download link button that was made visible when you logged in. Here are some shiny new things:

Geometric Halftones Kit

I really enjoyed revisiting the Turn Photos Into Stars tutorial. This takes the same technique in a whole new direction - and I think unlocks a cool new aesthetic!

Extended Art History Brush Set

There have been a handful of Art History Brush tutorials with quite a few different brushes - some were free on the site, most were Patreon bonus items. This brush set rounds them all up into a single package (plus a few new ones)!

Ink Bleed Action

Finally, a super-streamlined version of the Color Bleed tutorial action. One-click Ink Bleeds with some great new splatter details. Also includes a set of seamless textures, plus an action to generate animated sequences.

Sci-Fi Monitor Extended: Patterns and Action for Photoshop

While I previously had only posted the 16 additional pattern tiles, the Photoshop Sci-Fi Monitor is now a kick-ass action with some custom settings!

Cool things to check out about the updated site:

Textures Section:

• Way more textures per page!
• Permanent links for every texture (click on any texture, you’ll see the link for it in the browser)
• Search field (left-side menu)
• Favorites (once you’ve “hearted” a texture, Your Favorites will show up as a Collection)
• Texture Collections (left-side menu)
• Bulk Downloads (left-side menu)

*note about Bulk Downloads: Once logged in, Bulk Downloads are listed on the left side of the Textures pages. You’ll also see Bulk Downloads in the Tools menu. This is where people will be able to buy a Bulk Download pass, but since you already have a pass, you’ll access downloads in the Textures section!

**note about Bulk Downloads: The bulk downloads are currently the largest size versions of the compressed (JPG) textures. I’m still on the fence as to whether there is a feasible way to bulk download the lossless textures, which currently take up to 12 hours to download and usually fail halfway through!

Tutorials Section:

• Better organization with more tutorials per page
• Live view count and date from YouTube (a technical thing, but I was excited to get it working!)
• Outside resources now linked on tutorials (for example, the fonts on the Vintage T-Shirts tutorial)

Tools Section:

• It’s new! (So still a lot to add)
• Currently 14 entries out of about 25 that I'll be building out this month
• Exciting updates on some of my favorite project files

Things I’m still working on (not cool quite yet):

• A lot…
• This is the first go at launching the beta version of the site, so there might be some funny stuff going on.
• Not yet mobile or iPad-friendly (things need to be tailored for smaller screens in general)
• Gallery section - may be something I activate at a later date
• Still working on the FAQ, Terms of Use, etc (the boring stuff)

Patreon Timeline reminder:

• New site launches November 1st if all goes well :)
