Let’s get real for a minute my valued patrons

I think we can all agree guitar is the greatest instrument….but mastering guitar seems like it takes a lifetime!!

I’ve been struggling to make gains and want to know if you can relate

🛑 What are the top 3 things that cause frustration for you?

Maybe it’s a technique, or specific sound, songwriting, music theory. Or perhaps you’re trying to discover your own sound? Maybe it’s organizing your routine so life doesn’t get in the way of practice time. Could be you’re feeling uninspired or lacking motivation?

I mean, we could start our own support group and just complain about sh!t that drives us crazy muahahaha

I‘m just really curious to see if we share similar struggles to be honest, so let me know below!

For me, I feel like I should be in a band. I've been playing for almost 30 years, and can play most anything in the rock/metal genre (except the super shredder stuff). I can't seem to find the $$ for the right gear, nor the right people. I also feel like I should be learning jazz/ambient background music, as well as acoustic and singing. I just wanna play in front of people. I did that a couple years ago, for a small crowd. It was "ok". I guess I just wanna do it ALL. But, limitations (time, $, family, other interests). idk

Good feedback Chris. Sounds like you’re concerned you’re spreading yourself too thin. Taking on too many challenges is preventing the progress you seek?

My #1 challenge is finding like-minded individuals to jam with. I tried funding such people on Bandmix.com for several years, and I struck out repeatedly. Am I setting my standards too high? A second challenge I have is in writing songs that contain compelling melodies... so much of my music seems a bit mediocre (although I do enjoy playing it... everyday :) Finally, I am challenged by a recurring defeatist attitude... will I ever get to perform in front of people? I've played at several open mics, I've jammed with friends... but I really want a regular gig wherein I develop a local following. I want to share my music, but I don't know how. Thanks for asking, Shred!
