Ever feel like giving up? Maybe you're stuck....feeling uninspired, like your motivation has run dry. Negative interactions on the internet, parents and even work can discourage us from achieving life goals.

🛑 Everything is F$&KED!

I woke up in a pit of despair this morning. Fighting the fog of slumber, I realized Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” was playing on repeat in my head. Desperate to cleanse my mind, I launched out of bed and grabbed my phone. The weather report warned of a massive heat wave scorching Southern California. Then I remembered I missed practice yesterday! Suddenly, it occurred to me that I have 666 things to do this week and not enough time to get them done. Ahhhhhh!!!! 😱

🛑 Why Things Are F$&KED

Why does it seem like the odds are stacked against us in life? As it turns out, disorder is the default state of the universe. The 2nd law of thermodynamics states that things naturally progress towards disorder and decay. Life is like swimming upstream. You have to constantly fight the current to make progress, or get swept away by the tides of turmoil. This continuous strain wears us down from time to time, resulting in a lack of motivation and inspiration.

🛑 Get Un-F$&KED

I use a secret override switch whenever life gets overwhelming. I flip the switch and head straight to the gym. No thinking allowed, just do it. Blood and oxygen immediately floods your mind and body. Natural drugs like serotonin and dopamine ease your stress and allow clear thinking to return. Lack of motivation dissipates, paving the way for inspiration. Now that our body is in control, let’s head upstairs to the pre frontal cortex area of the brain. Getting what you want is an intentional process that starts with the proper mindset. While going about your day, Try meditating on keywords like vision, structure, passion and discipline. Devise a strategy to take even one step in the direction of your goals. Let’s say you want to get faster on guitar. Step one could be imagining yourself playing at searing speed. Picture the end result you desire and gradually put behaviors in place to make your vision a reality. Celebrate each increase in speed, no matter how small. Rewarding our progress keeps us motivated and inspired to do our best

🛑 My Plan

Assuming I can win the fight against entropy, my plan is to release a lecture this month on how to approach guitar soloing. Topics include, the music theory behind soloing, what makes a good solo, following the chords, understanding keys, using interesting rhythms, modal mapping and more. Check out the lesson outline (attached) for a rough idea of what’s coming. I’d love to hear your feedback and ideas below!
