Learning to recognize these intervals in music is huge. 2. Chords A chord is a collection of 3 or more notes. There are 4 types of triads. Major, Minor, Augmented and Diminished. Major and Minor are common, while the Augmented and Diminished are used to create dissonant sounds. 3. Key Signatures Finally key signatures are simply a way of classifying the notes in each key.
