At age 15 I thought I was a master of guitar because I had a super weapon

🍆 THE PENTATONIC SCALE 🍆

Once I had those five magical notes under my fingers, I figured I was unstoppable. So, I joined a band with some guys from my church. Even though I had only been playing for a year, I decided I would be the lead guitarist muhahaha

⭐️ MY SOLOS SUCKED

We started learning songs and rehearsed every Sunday after church. During every lead break I'd vomit random noodling with no regard to taste, tone or technique. I didn't even realize I was making everyone's ears BLEED. One Sunday my disastrous career as a lead lord came to an end. A new lead guitarist named Randy showed up to practice. Randy actually sounded good and it wasn't long before he replaced me. The boys told me I was out and that was that!

THIS TOOK ME 20 YEARS TO LEARN THIS

Over the next 20 years I went to music school and learned everything I could about theory and guitar. After graduating I taught tons of guitar lessons. I started to piece together a system that actually works for developing your musicianship FAST.  My methodology is a spiritual experience....a sacred ritual. There's 5 key concepts I use to unlock the immense potential in each student. I demonstrate each of these ideas in my Exotic Scale course below. Check it out if you're in the $10 tier.  I'd love to hear your feedback on this course and if it changes your approach to making music. Stay tuned for the next installment where I'll discuss each key in detail muhahaha!

Ah yes the pentatonic scale……. Play this and you can’t hit a wrong note! But then I’d try and improvise something creative. It sucked!!!! I was thinking in the major scale but I was playing the pentatonic and wondered why it sounded like ass. Once I got the modes pieced together I was away. I can play all over the neck now, and even going into the harmonic minor and for me that’s quite advanced.

So frustrating when you can't find the sound in your head right? The modes changed my life when it comes to soloing. Harmonic minor is a real treat when you get a chance to use it. The chord progression doesn't always allow for it though muhahaha!
