Dave, you seem to highlight a lot of Asian or Asian American focused movies, so I'm curious, did you ever see or talk about the movie Blue Bayou from 2021? I saw that in theaters and, maybe I'm a sap, but it absolutely wrecked me. It was written, directed and starred Justin Chon, and I thought he was excellent at all three. I remember after seeing it being sure you'd discuss it at some point, and I might have missed it if you did, but I don't remember that. Did I miss you talking about it, or did you not see it (or you saw it and didn't like it, but don't want to denigrate it)?

I’d heard some controversy around its depiction of adoption and never ended up seeing it. Still think Justin Chon is a really interesting filmmaker tho

@joyofnapping making a comparison between Past Lives and Your Name was pretty spot on. My immediate thought after I saw the film was that it felt like if Makoto Shinkai had made a live action film but without a supernatural element. Celine Song did a magnificent job, what a superb directorial debut. Past Lives is just a special film to me.
