C - STAR WARS - THE PHANTOM MENACE - FULL

Raga G

Yay, you’ve now been introduced to the infamous Gungan, Jar Jar Binks. Thank you, Verity! He is one of the most disliked Star Wars characters among fans and critics alike, but ex-squeeze me, mesa like Jar Jar! By the way, did you know that Michael Jackson wanted to play Jar Jar? But he didn’t because he wanted to do it in prosthetic makeup whereas the creator/director George Lucas wanted to do it in CGI. Surely you recognize Padmé Amidala, Queen of Naboo, as Jane (Thor’s ex-girlfriend); the actress is Natalie Portman, who was just 16 years old during filming. You’ve also seen her decoy, Sabé, in multiple films; however, she is much harder to recognize under all that makeup - the actress is none other than Keira Knightley, who played Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice (2005) and Elizabeth Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean films! Knightley was even younger - merely 12 - during filming. Because they were minors, their mothers were on set all the time. And here, LittleDragon92 is indeed right - they couldn’t tell their own daughters apart when they were both in full makeup as Queen Amidala! To date, this is the only film with both Portman and Knightley acting in it. Anakin’s actor is Jake Lloyd (8 years younger than Portman during filming), who, in auditions, beat the likes of 9-year-old Haley Joel Osment (who had played Forrest Gump Junior a few years prior and went on to star in his Oscar-nominated role in The Sixth Sense the following year). Sadly, Jake was bullied at school and harassed by the press as a result of his role, leading to his decision to retire from acting shortly in 2001. What a great talent the world lost! Finally, most of the film was shot in Leavesden Studios in England, and soon after the release of this film, Leavesden Studios was taken over by Warner Brothers for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (and all subsequent Harry Potter films)!

I'm late but, this is my first comment :D YAY!!!! Qui-Gon totally knew Padmé was Amidala all along and he smiled when she came clean to the Gungan Boss. "The Queen agrees with me" was the best argument to shut her up when she disagreed, so he played dumb (and of course it only helped her cover, win-win). Unrelated, but you may also note that Leia is a princess on Alderaan, while Padmé is queen of Naboo. Make of it what you will! Your reactions are fantastic <3

Happy first comment! :D I can't wait for Kemi to see more of these characters' journey...
