Kemi, thank you so much for this. Watching with you was, again, like watching with a friend. My husband, Dan, was all smiles hearing your heartfelt thanks, and so am I. My feelings are still hurt over who we lost in this movie, and it's been almost a decade since it came out! At the time, there were many unanswered questions about the characters, like you brought up the relationship status between Mal and Inara for example. Also, Shepherd Book's history and how he knows so much about crime and the workings of The Alliance. Thankfully, there's been a run of graphic novels since that give us answers (and also detail the circumstances under which both Inara and Book left the ship in the first place). You'll be happy to learn that Zoe WAS pregnant! The next run of graphic novels in this universe stars Wash and Zoe's (now grown) daughter! I'll send you a photo of the cover art. Thank you again!

Thank you, Nik, for requesting this! After Kemi finished the Firefly episodes I was afraid she wouldn't get around to watching this. I haven't read the follow-ups, but I always felt that The Operative was their way of showing indirectly what Book's history might have been before becoming a shepherd.
