Russia launched its largest missile attack since the start of the war with at least 100 Kh-101 and Kh-55 cruise missiles fired by strategic bombers from Russian air space. In addition, an unknown number of Kalibr cruise missiles were launched from the Black Sea.
Power generation and distribution and thermal plants for producing heat were the main targets, as well as civilian housing in the city of Kyiv as well as the Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, Volyn, Lviv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Kharkiv oblasts. Power is out through most of Ukraine and the neighboring nation of Moldova. All heat service has been knocked out in Lviv oblast for those on the thermal network.
The destruction of the power grid was so complete in some cities, not even the air raid sirens were working, so cars had to go through and announce the situation on loudspeakers.
Ukrainian officials say the remainder of the grid has destabilized, and power to other neighboring nations, without specification, will be impacted. Prior attacks have knocked out power in Russia and the occupied territory of Donetsk, where there have been rolling blackouts.
There is no information on the status of Ukraine's four nuclear power stations or Chornobyl and if power outages have forced SCRAMS or shutdown procedures at the nuclear facilities.
We hate being right.
