Patreon founder Jack Conte just made a blog post titled "We messed up. We’re sorry, and we’re not rolling out the fees change."

https://blog.patreon.com/not-rolling-out-fees-change/

He admits they underestimated the importance of certain features that would have been changed.

He wrote "We still have to fix the problems that those changes addressed, but we’re going to fix them in a different way, and we’re going to work with you to come up with the specifics."

SO. The fees will not be changing and your pledges will continue to be the amount you pledge. If you pledge $1 it'll be $1.

If you took advantage of the "fee compensated" tiers in advance of this, I'd ask you to now change your tier back to where it was. I've limited the number of people in those tiers for now so you won't lose rewards if you forget. But we'd really like to bring everyone back on the regular tiers.

Thanks to everyone who was patient and waited to see how this all shook out. It paid off in this instance and like Jack will be talking to creators as they move forward I will be talking to you if they seek my input on this.

Thanks again for your support. It means the world to us.

Tom and the rest of the DTNS team.

I was gonna paypal the year up front at $5/mo, but Patreon seems to have gotten the message, so I just upped my pledge here. Yay. Nice to know at least one thing about the internet listens to users (I'm shaking my fist at you, Ajit Pai!).

Moved back to the $5 dollar level. Just to comment on the change. If it was like that from the start, I don't think there would have been an issue (I would have less pledges) but to increase my out goings at $1 (which are most of my pledges) by 40% was unreasonable. Happy they are going to consult next time.
