The thing with authors making changes in their own adaptations is that it's a lot more likely that the changes will be Greedo-Shooting-First than that you will actually deliver something that feels like an upside to anyone who cared about the original.

So, I know this is more nitpicky, but... that doesn't look like a chimera. Maybe I missed something, but it's supposed to be part lion (check), part goat (?), with a snake tail/snake-as-a-tail (close enough?). I guess the horns could be the goat part, but those read as dragon-y to me. Just, classical descriptions/depictions tend to either have a second head, that's a goat head, or they have one set of legs be that of a goat. Also, pretty sure there's never been mention of a chimera being part frilled lizard. Especially with that scorpion-looking tail... it read more manticore, to me. Like I said, I know I'm nitpicking. I'm a mythology nerd. To be clear, I think it still achieves what it needs to, as a monster, and looks awesome.
