OK so following my post yesterday, here's a first look at Soops.

Obviously, I hope you're going to like her, as she's been under wraps for nearly a month now. Absolutely everything about her is customised and kitbashed to an extreme - she is not a model you can simply pay for or will see anywhere else.

I have wanted to make Supergirl for years, but the problem I have always faced is a technical one: not only does she have a flowing cape (which is so often missing when other artists try to do her) but she absolutely MUST have long hair, which is easy for most people - but not when you try to lie her down, have her flying or suspended or whatever...  all the things I want to do. So, even though Daz 3 did have some limited dynamic clothing capability (though Victoria 4 had just a single cape and it was not the right style) - the project could only be undertaken once dynamic hair was available.

Daz Studio 4 now has a wealth of dForce hair to choose from, but the problem is that - even though they look FANTASTIC lying down or in carry scenes - they actually look less good than the old style hair for standing up modelling. And they slow anything but a top end professional PC down to below 1FPS. Literally. This just takes the pleasure out of making art.

So the challenge was to find some hair that would look good in all scenarios, while not making the PC unresponsive. I spent a full two weeks obtaining around 20 promising hair models just to narrow it down to 3-4. In the end, none of them are perfect for all scenes and therefore I have decided to use a mixture of them depending on the posing; I will save the full dForce hair for when it's needed, which is the peril scenes.

The hair that Supergirl has above I chose for her main hair as it most clearly evokes the Helen Slater movie look. It's a Genesis 3 Female hair, and also her top (which I custom textured) is a G3F model. The skirt is from a school uniform set (LOLZ), re-textured, and the waistband is the ONLY thing I took from a downloadable Supergirl set.  Honestly if you're inspired to make your own SG, be warned that pretty much all of the off-the-shelf options I have seen are junk.

Anyhow, I hope you think I captured the look. I've added in some nude pantyhose as a nod to Melissa Benoist and because....  well, do I really have to justify that to you guys?

I am pretty pleased with the result because what originally launched me into the DiD fetish was reading this book as a teenager.  https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/91h4l3oDDTL.jpg

It still stands as a wonderful CYOA and - if you're a Supergirl fan - what are you waiting for? Go buy it!

I am hoping to illustrate some of the best peril scenes from that book plus a few inspired by it. But to start off with, I thought I'd launch with the classic Supergirl hands-on-hips power pose. It's on the cover and also all the Helen Slater posters.

I'd love to hear what you think and - once again - sorry about the long interlude from my last uploading.
