Dear Patrons, thank you for sticking with me.  I don't really like to draw attention to it but it's been a month since I posted.

The first thing that happened is, early Feb I got two major projects in my day job and another one for a charitable institution I do work for free-of-charge.  All this coming together was a serious pain but I am pleased to say that I have largely got it all done.

Then, around two weeks ago, THE THING happened, you know that thing in the news, which I don't want to discuss on this platform.  Obviously it came as a bit of a shock particularly as the threat of nuclear attack was something I thought we'd left behind in the early 90s.  Since then I have been pretty much glued to the news which I know is absolutely unhealthy.

This combination of distractions sounds like a pretty poor excuse and I do apologise.  The problem is that when making art your heart has to be in it and you can't just churn it out on a bad day.

The good news however is that behind the scenes (and kind of contrary to what I say above) I have been using Daz Studio as a kind of escape to a fantasy world.  Actually in this time I got very inspired by the capabililties of dForce (dynamic clothing and hair) in Daz 4 which is something very powerful and realistic.  As a consequence I have developed a fixation with CAPES (which has to be the weirdest fetish out there) and I have ended up creating two entirely new caped characters.  They are both **nearly finished** but I haven't exercised the discipline to create something upload-worthy.

Supergirl (1980s look)

The first thing I have done is - at last - make my own 1980's Supergirl.  Her look is very much that of the Helen Slater movie and not a lot in common with the Melissa Benoist TV series - except that her outfit does involve tights :-)  My approach with her is 'dForce everything' which means she has the full loadout of dynamic hair, cape, skirt... everything that was not possible before this technological leap.  I am very proud of her and hope to unveil her this week.  Yes, she will encounter Kryptonite.

Sheila (Dungeons & Dragons)

Second character I would estimate that 90% of you have no familiarity with.  During the 1980's (yes I was a teenager then) there was an American Dungeons & Dragons cartoon about a bunch of teenagers who got transported from a theme park into a D&D World from which they were always (unsuccessfully) trying to return.  Each of them was given a special weapon or piece of equipment.  Sheila was a childhood crush of mine and had a special cape that made her turn invisible.  Think of her like a cute ginger-haired Sue Storm.  Anyway, I have made her as well.  IF Patrons like her and are interested then I hope to use her as a vehicle to do some fantasy-style stories involving Orcs, Wizards and Witches and all the sorts of things she used to face on a weekly basis.  If you're wondering what the hell I am talking about, why not check out this very cool episode which is on Youtube (as is the whole series in its entirety).  Those of you who watch all the way through may find this rewarding viewing and see the attraction :-)

NO PROMISES BUT I HOPE TO START POSTING AGAIN TOMORROW.

It seems we have A LOT of people owning up to remembering Sheila! I feel a sense of community!

Duck-Bot

Short for Secure, Contain, Protect. SCP Foundation is a fictional anomalous agency that protects the world from anomalies of all types. Think Magic the Gathering had a weird, scientific baby with the X-Files or Men in Black with a dash of Ghostbusters. Best of all, they are a collection of stories, pseudo research papers, logs, and creations made by fans rather than any publication company. There are games that came from it though. In theory, you could make a character, site, an anomaly, or even an adventure yourself. https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/ --- Yeahhhh here's hoping Daz doesn't get me to accidentally update it again.
