This was one of those weeks where I ended up frustrated even though technically things went pretty well.

A good example is all the emails I exchanged with Nutaku. They like the game enough to feature it on their site, they've offered me free marketing/placement in exchange for a period of exclusivity. Unless the content review board rejects Ouroboros, which is unlikely since the content is mostly vanilla, then this is going forward... in November. Early November, but still, I am disappointed that I didn't get the game out in October.

The most annoying thing is my home internet was dead much of the week. Now, this doesn't really stop my work all that much and I have other options for internet, but it's very irksome.

TLS progress was sadly slow, because my parallax map person has flaked out on me. This is one of the reasons I've tried not to rely too much on outside coders/artists/etc - they may be more talented than me, but few of them are doing this professionally and so things aren't always done promptly.

I poked the person after I didn't hear back for a few days, only to find that they hadn't even started the key work. I'm not going to use this person in the future, but for now the fastest way forward is to let them finish, since some work has already been done. I'm frustrated that progress is being slowed for no good reason and apologize if I don't hit my target date.

My current hope is to get TLS 0.21.0 out shortly after I get the map, hopefully before Ouroboros releases. That will launch commercially early in November and I'm braced for that to suck up some time, but I still want to get another TLS update out in November. More info once I've finished this section and begun detailing the next.

Honestly, weeks like this are pretty discouraging for me. The things I mentioned aren't huge, but I rely on streams of productivity to keep up my energy. However, it's times like these that I'm encouraged by the fact that so many people value what I've created so much that they even support me. I'm able to do this thanks to you guys, and I want nothing more than to keep doing it. ^-^

Another thing that makes me happy: I got a fun piece of fanart. The title is "If You're Done Contemplating Mortality, I'd Like to Go Back In The Sack" and if you're thinking it looks familiar, you're right, it's based on a classic painting. Hope it amuses you as much as it did me!

That picture has me thinking there's gotta be an "Alas, poor Stark. I knew him well, Orcent" joke to be had somewhere...

KingPufferfish

Definitely not the kind of fanart I was expecting, but great nonetheless. Also, from what I understand from this post, next TLS release sometime in November? Guess I'll try to hold on until then.

The Biddz

Thats some killer fanart ho-lee cow. Sucks that the person flaked; but its happens. You got a patient fanbase so we'll be fine. Looking forward to the release in november though! I'll try and get people I know who are into that stuff to buy it and support :D

I have to admit, I did a double take on the art, loved it tho, and I'm glad I guessed right on Stark, Orcent was easy to identify... Keep up the great work, it's hard when things get squirrly and are out of your control but you've already got a plan for it so we'll get TLS when it's ready.

Thanks Sierra! Your map person flaking is definitely a bummer, but don't sweat it. You make a great product, and if it takes a little bit longer to get an update then it takes a little bit longer. Also gotta say I love the weekly updates that you send out. Even when there are delays we know what happened, which is a big plus. Too many creators have delays and you don't find out about them until the deadline has been missed.

I'm with everyone else here, awesome art. And while it's a pity that the mapmaker flaked we can all wait, and these information updates really are very appreciated. Too often you follow someone and don't hear a word until they come with an update, which can leave you with a month or more with no idea what they're up to at the moment.

I would really like it to be before the end of October, but the mapper just said they'd get it done by the 30th, and I'll need to do work/testing after I get the map, so...

sierralee

Thanks! Since the work is pretty much done on Ouroboros, all I can do is cross my fingers and hope. >.

Looking on the bright side, this makes the moment the release is updated that much sweeter!

That's some amazing fanart! Also, don't worry too much about the exact date of the release: after something is out, it's out.
