The video above is the result of my continued work, this time showing the battle system. It might not be obvious, but I've replaced all default animations with non-RTP animations. You also see the new capability of actors to move to their target for physical attacks.

In some ways I'm reaching my limits when it comes to modifying the combat UI. There will still be some changes: for example, Ulfina hops forward in that weird position because the pixel artist hasn't given her a unique ready position like I asked yet.

Those of you who played the earlier builds know that the majority of battlers were from the non-RTP set produced by Thalzon. In addition to removing placeholders and other RTP assets, I went to Thalzon himself and began commissioning new enemies in his style. Now the Wolves, Woodsmen, Girls, and other classes from the story will all have varying battlers that match their exact nature.

Lots better than enemy recolors, right? I hope so, anyway. >_<

I've done this stuff and many other things... but I've pretty much burned through my store of enthusiasm to work on random elements. What I'd like to do most now is put out a new build, but if people are going to replay, I'd like it to be an entirely overhauled experience. Until I solve the major problem with the combat system, there's no point in working on unfinished enemy balance. I suppose I might have to abandon certain mechanics, which would make the combat system a bit less diverse, but instantly solve the problem.

In addition, progress on the TLS art continues! $10 backers should expect a nice set of five new scenes later this week. ^-^ That's all for now!

What are the 5 new art scenes for TLS?

JJS

And the work you are doing for this new game is most promising, like all your work.

"Lots better than enemy recolors, right?" Yeah it is, looks awesome!

This is all looking great. The variant enemy sprites are definitely a lot better than palette swaps. Ingrid's innocent boob bouncing idle animation is perfect for her nature. It's clear you're put a lot of LONG and HARD work into this. I 'm looking forward to the next build COMING out.

Haha, I'm glad people still remember this project. I hope to keep bringing more elements into line with the theme of the game.

You know, I've seen (and I think downloaded) Thalzon's battler pack ages ago, and it honestly never would have occurred to me that he might actually be available to create further battlers on commission. I think just the general cohesiveness of having all the battlers done by a single person in a single style is a really worthwhile asset for the game. I really hope this one brings in a substantial new audience influx. I think all the investment into graphical polish may do a lot to attract the attention of audiences who'd never guess that a game constructed from free assets might contain your level of writing or game design. I think Ouroboros was a great self-contained demonstration of your skills, but by comparison, it clearly doesn't project at a glance how much it stands apart from ordinary RPGMaker games.

Cohesiveness is one of my goals for this project, so beta testers are free to bring up anything that doesn't seem like it belongs. I can't do everything, but this is already expensive enough that there's no reason to skimp on the minor details. Anyway, I can only hope that it finds its audience. You know I'm cynical, but I'm giving this one my best shot.

There is only so much that can be done with rpgmaker sadly but this looks great so far

It looks really nice I can't wait for a chance to play it.

Somewhat random, but I didn't want to DM anyone. Does anyone have a discord invite link? I didn't use discord when I started supporting, but now I do.

Your work is absolutely fantastic I wish I could support more but my college budget is trash. The quality of each one of your projects is unparalleled. I would be instantly interested in playing any RPGs you make in the future regardless of if they are NSFW or SFW.

I appreciate every supporter! I'm glad you've enjoyed my work so much. ^-^
