As we enter March, I feel like 2020 has gotten off to a good start. I had to push a little too hard, but I feel positive about what I did in updates 48 and 49, so I'm glad that they've been well-received. The public release of TLS 0.49.x will still be next weekend, but overall we enter into a period with a little more uncertainty.

Update 0.50.0 could actually be several different things. The next plot segment will be a more intense conflict bringing together some characters in hopefully surprising ways and setting off several updates of linear content. However, I also don't want to leave Eustrin sitting as it currently is for too long, so the update resolving it is also on my mind. Finally, we're getting closer to the time when we can have the update adding the art into the game, with the corresponding publicity push.

The other major thing happening is that The Brightest Shadow will finally be releasing next weekend. I can tell that I'm too emotionally invested in this, but in this case mental discipline doesn't have much effect. I'll post more about that at the time and generally cross my fingers. >_<

Anyway, as thanks to all my $1 patrons, I've made the newest update available to all of you here. Thanks for your support!

Only one question that as you've said the update for adding artwork is getting closer, can we have a sort of toggle to turn the artwork on/off, meaning being able to choose whether to view it or not?

JJS

Comment, I am looking forward to finally resolving the Eustrin situation and putting Aram in its place.

I was playing the update and I found Gwyneth Paltrow: https://i.imgur.com/13ifSDn.png Here's hoping this isn't as bad an idea in TLS as it is in real life.

Succubi are happy to stick all kinds of things in all kinds of places, but they would never make pseudo-scientific health claims.

The Eustrin-Aram conflict will be an event that can be triggered at any point in chapter 5, as long as you qualify with the required stats, right Sierra? If that is the case I would recommend tying up loose ends in Eustrin first, as a way of making that game development proceeds chronologically, and that players won't retroactively have to redo story sections for fear of missing out on bonuses for something that they already qualified for. But that's just my opinion, Sierra. As the developer I'm sure you know what will be best for the game. :) And while the sentiment can get lost in the bugreports and balancing requests, I do think that chapter 5 is off to a great start so thank you for caring about your work. It seems so many game developers do not these days.

sierralee

Yeah, that's how the event will be triggered. I'm very conscious of the potential of non-linear segments to require replaying, but I also try to overall prioritize total TLS development. Depending on how things fall out, finishing other content might be the best way to keep up momentum. Thank you for the kind words about this chapter! I appreciate them. ^-^

The ingame description of Yarra's new synergy skill with Nalili (Lash of Torment) says: 'Draws off other sexual energy for a quick attack.' Sounds weird to me, wouldn't 'Draws off another's' or actually 'Nalili's' be better here? Which in turn brings to mind that it would be cool if Yarra actually would pay the SP from Nalili's pool and not her own, but I assume there are coding limitations to that idea.

sierralee

Yeah, I suppose that's a good change. The mechanical change isn't possible, however. The SP system is a lot stiffer than I'd hoped when I found it.
