August 13 Update (Patreon)

I want to thank everyone again for their responses to the previous post. It was a nice piece of encouragement to carry me through what was otherwise a very frustrating week.

I persevered and did a lot of TLS work, though! Instead of talking about any of the frustrating elements (I've thought about those enough right now), I decided to make a list of the fun things you're getting in the coming update:

Orc Summit

In my original plan, I expected that players wouldn't care about the male characters, but people have had a gratifying interest in the various unique orcs. So you can expect to see them get some time in the spotlight this update. I could have done it in a few hours by making it happen off screen, but instead I made a whole segment of the game with orcs as new party members. That means new stats, new equipment, new techniques, and a lot of balancing work.

Extended Aftermath

The first part of this update is devoted to the end of the war and the confrontation with the Incubus Emperor. But for a conflict this massive, it wouldn't feel right for that to just resolve things. So, while I don't want it to ever feel like its dragging on, I've devoted some serious time to various aftermath events. Expect more calculations, decisions, and character events.

Character Reconnections

With the party split up, lots of characters haven't seen Simon or each other in a long time. There are also some combat-heavy sections that don't lend themselves to conversations. Well, when the party finally gets a moment to breathe, you have a chance to talk to every single harem member, plus several harem-affiliated characters. There's, uh, a lot of dialogue. Hopefully it will feel balancing in the middle of a lot of combat and choice-heavy stuff.

New Investment Cycle

For all of chapter three, players have been investing via budget percentages. But as you've noticed, there have been various investment opportunities throughout. As the war ends, you're finally going to get a chance to act on those, with a new round of investing that will set off the return to the normal ProN system for the remainder of the game.

Chapter End

As mentioned, the upcoming update will go all the way to the end of the chapter. That includes various concluding scenes, leading up to the interstitial scene between chapters. These scenes will answer some questions that have been in the air for a long time, but also raise some new questions about how everything ties together.

So yeah, that's what's in store! I have finished the last battles on each front, the climactic attack on the Incubus Emperor, and one phase of the aftermath. It's already larger than the average update, but I think everything will be more satisfying if given in one complete set, with additional polishing. Please look forward to it!
