Alright, everybody, this is happening! Crimson Gray is being officially released on all channels!

Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/655770/Crimson_Gray/
itch.io SFW: https://sierralee.itch.io/crimson-gray
itch.io NSFW: https://sierralee.itch.io/crimson-gray-nsfw
MangaGamer: http://www.mangagamer.com/detail.php?goods_type=1&product_code=1027
(DLsite versions are pending the arcane processes on their end)

As I mentioned, all backers who qualify can have a free Steam key! Please be patient with me, however - due to some issues with Steam, this is all happening very suddenly and I'm not fully prepared, so I'll be swamped for the next while. The other thing that I ask is that if you get a free key, don't leave a Steam review to keep my page from taking a hit. Feel free to participate in the Steam community hub, though!

If you want to leave reviews elsewhere, or if you're a curator or anything... please, feel free to do whatever you want to do. Usually I don't like to ask you guys for anything, since you are already my core supporters, but in this case...

If you liked Crimson Gray or want me to do more experimental games in general, I would be very grateful if you gave this game your word-of-mouth support. I don't mean shilling, but if you are a part of any communities that might be interested, please let them know. I really don't want this project to be lost in the flood of new games. T-T

One thing you may be wondering is why there are two itch.io links. Basically, that is an experiment on my end to see about selling the game in both SFW and NSFW versions. Between the free patch and the NSFW toggle, they're basically equivalent.

A fun note: I got achievements working on the Steam version! I couldn't launch with trading cards due to Steam policy, but if people want that, maybe it will be possible in the future.

An additional detail: Ouroboros is 50% off on itch.io and MangaGamer for the next week. So if anybody was waiting for that, now is a good time!

Gah, this is all happening too fast. Freaking Steam. Please let me know if anything is screwed up. >.<

EDIT: The public static page for the game, including all store links and the NSFW patches, is here:

If anybody wants to do a Tumblr, I've made one so certain artists can share it:

Don't know about screwed up, but I do wonder if the "right path" and "special kind of romance" icons aren't mild spoilers. Also, might have suggested the framed photo image for the gallery achievement.

sierralee

Welp, apparently when viewed globally, they show the UNLOCKED achievement image. The locked versions are spoiler free. In any case, it is far too late to change this now.

"don't leave a Steam review to keep my page from taking a hit". Eh? Am I reading this right? If someone who receives a free key leaves a review, you are penalized?

Dubsington

Also: Congrats on unlocking the "going legit" achievement :)

Decanter

While reviews by those who receive free keys may be suspicious, anyone can rate positive reviews left by others as "helpful". So that's something one can do.

wow, this is disappointing, i give you a pledge to read the details how to get the game, ONLY to read, that you give a free steam key... WTF!!! I dont even have a steam account or do i play steam games.. If this is how you work, please refund the pledge i gave, and i will cancel it.

Decanter

Easy there buddy. The Steam key is just one way, not the only way.

Well I just finished my first play-through and ended up murdered. I don't know what I expected

So, if I buy it on Steam, will I be able to get the NSFW patch for free, or would I have to pay?

Decanter

It's free. There's a link near the bottom of the post about it.

sierralee

Haha, there's a reason the Steam achievement for that is named "Unsurprising Outcome." The game is definitely about reaching a happy ending, though!

Playing this game gives me headache, but it's a special kind of headache. Throughout the game, I've cycled through so many emotions - trepidation, sadness, excitement, stress, one after another. I felt immersed, invested, maybe a tad too much. Truly a great game. Big kudos to you, Sierra Lee.

I'm so glad I'm finally financially stable enough to support you (I've been saying to myself for a year now that yours will definitely be the first Patreon I support) and the timing could not have been better with this game release! I'm not yet entirely sure where/how to message you to get my copy, but hearing that you're swamped with Steam problems, I can definitely be patient.

sierralee

Looks like you got it figured out, I replied to your message. Thanks for the support!

Finally I've completed Crimson Gray! Well... sort of... I didn't get all endings, though. But I've seen few death endings, happy end, guardian (?) ending, true ending. Novel had left me very confused. I literally don't know how to feel about it! Yeah, it will be one of nonpositive reviews. I don't calling it a negative review because I really think that it is a very good work. But sadly it isn't work for me. I mean... mental illness is a very complicated subject and in some cases I can't divide mental illness as character attribute and my concern about it as a real world issue. And there were a silly things about me. Like my love for long visual novels, voices, etc. I'm spoiled reader. It's a bad thing but nothing I can do about. Likewise, I'm not a fan of protagonist who's almost entirely determinated by players. It's subjective thing. But I liked Lizzie! She's creepy and cute. She is... also very confusing to me. Game mechanics is highly clever! I was surprised how natural story branched. Only flaw I want to point out is the rushed endings. Specifically few death endings, happy and guardian endings. They are just too sudden. It's like there aren't any transitions between scenes. I'm definetely interested in your future experimental games!

sierralee

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback! Experimental games aren't going to be for everyone, but I'm glad you're supportive of trying new things even when they didn't quite click for you.
