I hope you're all doing well! It's another start of the month, and I'm so close to finishing Warhawk 2. Another 8-10 days I'd reckon. Post any comments or questions you have below, and I will answer them!

How do you get a feel for when it's time to be finished with a scene? I've been trying to get into some writing myself for a while and I have this problem particularly with "action" segments, such as combat. Trying to get a mean between enough description and beats so that people can follow what is happening, but not dragging it out so much that it drags things along is something that I don't really think I've got a feel for yet, and I was wondering if you might have some insight.

I think it depends on how you do things. For me I visualize the scene like a movie playing out in my mind. I can see the action segments and try to keep the movement flowing with quick precise sentences. Once it's done, it's done. But just like how artists use references to drawing, you can use references for writing. Watching anime, action movies, etc. and then using that as a template for how you want the scene to play out. Just keep the sentences short and to the point. Action should be quick and not full of a lot of description to keep the speed of the scene going. Try to avoid using passive voice which tends to occur when you're describing a scene.

Your questions always crack me up. If I'm inside I'm a sleep pants guy. If I'm outside I'm usually a shorts guy.
