Commander Erwin was my favorite as well but the show must go on. I think liking Armin to begin with helps. And while I also think Erwin was the right choice to bring back I don't blame Armin for that decision. For me the basement reveal and all the information that comes with it was far too engaging to keep me sad about Erwin's death.

If it helps, Armin never chose to live over Erwin, the choice was made for him. If there had been a way to ask him, I think Armin would have chosen for Erwin to live. It's true that both of them made the choice to give up on their dreams and die for humanity, but Erwin seemed to be relieved by it when he thanked Levi for agreeing with the plan, whereas Armin lied to Eren about not sacrificing himself, and you could tell Armin was lying (because he knew he would die but didn't really want to).

Great reaction Vee! The basement and a crumb of answers, we made it! I've always been a little annoyed at Armin anyways, don't let it get to you. All I can advise is trust in Levi, I feel like he's earned that.

I look forward to these reactions so muchhh

I had another thought. Maybe Erwin, on his mountain, couldn't stand on one more scout. He made the choice to save Armin, like of course he would save one of his scouts over his own life, he used himself as bait many times. He was selfless up until the chance to get to the basement, and ended up being selfless anyways.

It’s ok to have favorite characters. Just be yourself.

I felt the same way about Erwin not getting to see the basement and never knowing that his father was right. It’s a tragedy that I never really got past, and I still miss him, too. That’s never going to change for you. But as others have said, if you keep in mind that Armin himself agrees with you that Erwin was the better choice and he doesn’t understand why Levi chose him either, that might help you hate Armin less. You’re totally allowed to be bitter and unhappy with the choice—just try not to blame Armin for it, because he had no say in the matter. I think that would taint your enjoyment of the show a little bit. However, yay! We finally got to the basement! That scene where Mikasa and Eren return to their home always makes me emotional. Like you said, it’s so different. And yes, we got confirmation of other humans! The next episode is a lot of information to take in, so be prepared for that haha. And yes, you can watch the intro now! Also I love your Christmas decorations behind you! 😊 We may not see eye to eye on Armin but I still love watching this with you and can’t wait for more! I respect your feelings and am so happy you gave this show a chance.

Information available for public disclosure: Basement Key Grisha Jaeger, having come from outside the walls and thus knowing many secrets, entrusted the basement key to his son. The basement will likely reveal the mysteries of the world which Grisha couldn't mention to anyone.

Vee but there's no way it's on armin :( his death is not on armins hands, armin just sacrificed his life and woke up to hear the commander was dead and he was chosen

I feel like as much as it would have been better for humanity’s sake to save Erwin I believe Levi made the right choice. I know Erwin was one of the best characters and he wanted to see the basement but in the end he was living a life of pain and suffering, constantly seeing comrades die and having to live with that weight on his shoulders. So i think Levi’s decision to finally let him rest was the right choice and as much as he is clearly the more valuable character to keep alive for humanity’s sake, i honestly believe it would’ve been a selfish act to do so which is why Levi let his suffering finally end.

For Vee, Armin is like Faramir for Denethor. :( https://i.pinimg.com/originals/6f/09/fe/6f09fedd94ff38b4ffb187da396da728.jpg Anyway, I remember we had to wait literally years to finally see what is in the basement. I think that was one of the most waited episodes in anime history.

It's pretty funny to me that you say Armin's "way too soft" when he decided without hesitation to burn himself to death for humanity's sake, while Erwin wasn't able to sacrifice himself and it was Levi who finally decided for him.

Weey

Erwin's death is not at all on Armin though. Armin was fully prepared to sacrifice himself for the greater good of humanity, even more so than Erwin ever was. It was Levi who chose Armin over Erwin for this reason. Hope you can forgive him because this show has a long way to go yet.

Damnn. I read some comments before watching this but they definitely didn't prepare me for how hard you took that stance. I'm kind of upset at how upset at Armin you are. He had not say in it. and was just was worthy and important. And you're legit acting like he SHOULD feel the survivors guilt lol. dang. such a harsh thing to think.
