Sooooo my heart's shattered after this episode... I talk about this episode for about 6 minutes 😭 sorry if I have any controversial opinions

I couldn’t disagree more. That being said, I understand your point. My reasons are emotional in some point, but I Think there’s no right position. Anything could happen and still is a horrible situation. Next chapter is going to be awesome. Get ready. 😃

Your feelings are definitely valid, many people feel Erwin should have been saved. His ending is perfect in my opinion with Erwin finally escaping his hell to be at peace. Once he finds the basement, he has no purpose going forward, he's very one track minded. Armin has bigger ambitions and dreams of what can become of life. Erwin would honestly serve no purpose past the basement, but to die eventually anyways. I have the benefit of hindsight knowing where the story goes from here, but when I watched the first time, even with Armin not being in my top 5 characters, I believed it was the right choice and after finishing the show stand by my thoughts.

God this really is just my favorite episode in the show, its actually ridiculous. I see where you're coming from, and I do think its just a bias of liking Erwin a lot. When it got to this point on my first watch, I honestly hated Armin too, at least up until episode 3x17, but I also didn't particularly care for Erwin either. That being said, I wanted Armin to live because I thought it would be the most interesting for how the story could be developed :P

This episode is actually hard to watch for me. The debates and discussions when the chapter dropped were ooh but personally for me, there was no right decision. Levi could choose either of the two and they could always make do, whatever happens next. Also, at the time, I didn't really particularly care who lives so we can just see what's on the basement XD However I was just happy that Erwin is put to rest, he deserves it after all that he went through. For Armin, he still has a lot to go through. Anyways, I'm excited for the episodes towards the end!

This was such an interesting reaction, and one of the many reasons why your reactions are fantastic. It's great that you expressed your honest opinions, and again interesting as I have the opposite opinion. At this point in the narrative, Armin was my favourite character, and I was absolutely broken thinking that he was going to die. It was still painful to see Erwin go, but I was unbelievably relieved that it was him rather than Armin. That's why it was amazing to see your thoughts, and I'm sooo sorry that you lost your favourite character. :'( I'm loving these reactions, and am soooo excited to see you continue my favourite show of all time! :)

It's only a good story when it triggers debate over its subject matter or the choices a character makes. Some other stories don't do that, and we end up debating over factors like pacing, as that would be a flaw with the writing itself. But there's no flaw with our opinions or our beliefs on what a story has written. So, you're not the only one who has their opinion on Erwin being the one to get brought back. Many people debate over this on the webs.

It’s interesting to see how Erwin and Armin managed the battle on the two sides of the wall. Erwin sacrificed everyone for his own goals without hesitation. Armin sacrificed himself for everyone else without hesitation. Both of them won but in very different ways (and both of them lost too). Who is better for humanity? A strong leader who has the will to make the hardest decisions and take everything for win, or someone who can’t make the hardest choices, but cares about people? Very good question.

Vee, I know where you are coming from, Erwin is my favorite character. But what Levi said about having to bring him back when he finally has earned his rest is what got me to accept his death. The amount of scouts he has sent out and who have died are uncountable, also many close friends and allies. Despite not being able to see what is in the basement, he has earned a soldiers rest finally after all those years. Also Armin is going to get better and better just you wait.

Bruhh the Armin hate is real, for no reason too 😆 he was like a prophet up to this point in the story, saving humanity multiple times with quick and clever thinking. Love Erwin too but Armin gets similar results without mercilessly sacrificing majority of his forces to get it done 💀 Erwin makes the tough choices, you can definitely make arguments for saving him over Armin tho besides "he's just not for me." Respect your honest opinions but at least have better reasons, maybe you dislike Armin because he's: non-assertive, reactive, self conscious, young, boring.. but he also did A LOT of good with a lot less carnage. Its unfair to compare a kid to the freakin commander anyway, no matter how remarkable the kid is. Great reaction!

It's not an easy choice (like you could see from the episode), not even for the fans.. People still debate on which one was the one to bring back :( But it was Levi's choice in the end and he chose to let his friend rest.

Armin is a literal strategic genius up to this point in the story. I wish she’d say what she hated about Armin so much to understand the dislike, but I think she was more worked up over Erwin’s death that she took it out on our boi 😆

All the hugs. I will say the first few times watching the series I couldn't stand Armin. I don't mind him as much any more, but took a while before I just flat out didn't like him at all.

All emotions and opinions are valid in this show. I have gone up and down and back and forth with so much of this show. The first time watching it I was all over the place with it and it's totally different now. Erwin v. Armin is a huge thing so don't feel bad about it. Feel whatever you want to feel.

It's quite natural that some watchers will prefer one decision or the other, it means the conflict in the show itself makes sense. Armin shows so much potential. His plans tend to have way fewer casualties. On the other hand no one can fill the leadership role like Erwin could right now. In the end, I believe Levi did what he thought was the best decision as a close friend to Erwin. The decision he wouldn't regret as he said a few times in the show. By the way, next episode has an after-credits scene.

First, the fact that you called the entire plot of the episode before it even started. 😂 It’s totally okay to share your opinion, like you said not everyone thinks the same way and we all have biases toward our favorites. You know Armin’s a favorite of mine so I disagree with you, HOWEVER. I will say that when I first watched this episode, Erwin had become my second favorite so I was completely torn up over the idea of either one dying. Talk about hard choices! I knew I’d cry no matter which one was chosen. In the end I decided I wanted Armin to live, mostly because Erwin had made his peace with death and Armin was just so full of wonder still. And even though I was relieved Levi chose Armin, I sobbed for an hour over Erwin’s death. It was so bittersweet. So don’t apologize for your feelings on this, your points are all valid. There are many who felt Erwin should’ve been chosen. I think what I’m most surprised about is that you don’t like Armin at all. I remember how you cried at the end of the last episode so I thought you did like him, and to hear now that he’s one of your least favorites surprised me. But again, we all have different opinions and I don’t hate you for that. I still very much enjoy your reactions. Thank you for being honest with us. ♥️

I'm with you V, Armin totally sucks! Just kidding, I absolutely love Armin and his sacrifice is one of my favorite moments in the show. I do agree however that Erwin should have been revived. For the sake of humanity Erwin would have been the better choice. And MAN do I wish he could have gotten to that basement.

You don't have to apologize for having an opinion, and you don't need to defend it. I know we live in an age where people are super sensitive and so easily offended, but everyone is entitled to an opinion. That being said, I think the reason Levi chose Erwin was because Erwin's dream was to get to the basement, and they came very close to that. He said he didn't know what he would do after getting to the basement, but that was his goal. On the other hand, Armin's dreams went way beyond the walls. He wanted to see the sea and the rest of the world. Armin had more to live for than Erwin did. When I first saw the episode, I couldn't make up mind. It was so hard for me to choose. In the end, I wanted Armin to be chosen, but I would have understood if Erwin was picked.

All of my man's Armin's achievements being discredited by "well Erwin wasn't there" was kinda rough. Erwin is absolutely a proven legend, but Armin has so much potential.

I think you might be the first reactor to choose Erwin over Armin. Personal opinion, I'd say Armin isn't actually as talented as Erwin since in a lot of the calls or plans he made involved knowing someone well enough to form a plan (like knowing what Marco's equipment looked like as well as the relationship between Annie and Bert) whereas Erwin always had to make a decision with zero information and somehow still come up with a win.

Team Erwin! He was cursed from the start being youre favorite though Vee, I still dream of an alternate future where he lives instead of Armin. My first watch I was more broken up by Erin and Mikasa's suffering seeing their friend die than I was about the choice.
