Since you asked about sanji's age, both him and zoro are 19. Nami is 18. Usopp and luffy are 17

Definitely gotta watch the anime, or read the manga. The live action is keeping close to some of Oda's huge beats. Its been incredibly faithful in the characters and world (both of which I'd argue are one and the same). I've been following One Piece for 17 years and I'm VERY happy with the adaptation. I've reread the entire series front to back at least twice and I'm very happy with seeing new fans be born from a series so near and dear to my heart. There's crazy differences though, I promise watching/reading the anime/manga will get you an entirely difference experience. There's entire story/character arcs, battles, and AT LEAST A DOZEN characters that are pretty much omitted from the live action - half barely made it beyond a background cameo. Syrup Village is very different in the live action in a lot of ways (imo the live action is incredibly weak during this portion of the adaptation), Baratie is way different (the Sanji flashback is gonna hit you different)... and even important moments that will happen in the next two episodes have small little differences. So far nothing that's been offensive or story changing, and only one huge spoiler. Also, think you're crying now? This isn't even the heavy stuff, and stuff that has left me sobbing. Heed my warning and avoid spoilers, the Water 7 Saga of One Piece (Episodes 209 through 325) is one of the greatest stories of all time imho. Honestly, nothing has ever compared to my first time with this story arc, not even Breaking Bad.

IMO, this is true to the spirit of the characters and of the series. Eiichiro Oda personally picked each of the actors. Plotwise, in OPLA, a lot is compressed, removed, or moved around for the sake of the live action medium and modern audiences. The 1999 anime/1997 manga was weekly, not seasonal, so it's definitely built as a slowburner. But this lets the key moments breathe a little while longer, making our attachment to the crew stronger, so that both the hilarious and heartbreaking moments hit harder. I started watching and reading One Piece when I was 15. I'm 37 now, having re-read and re-watched it numerous times along the way. One bit of advice I have is-- if you decide to pick it up, don't be in a hurry to catch up. Avoid spoilers, don't read youtube comments, don't search for One Piece online. Savor every moment with our crew, because after a certain point, when shit ramps up, you'll look back fondly on those fun, laid back times when the crew was just hanging out and getting into shenanigans. It's truly an absurdist pirate fantasy, but it's also deeply poignant and meaningful. This world has depth, and progresses independently of our Strawhats. Each island has it's own people, cultures, socio-economic and political situations. Our crew has grown and developed into a stronger, more mature versions of themselves, without losing their childhood dreams. They've come so damn far. Luffy started his journey in a little wooden boat, and now in the manga, we're entering the Final Saga. The end of One Piece is in our sights. Oda is connecting the dots he started hiding in plain sight for the past 26+ years. If you decide to react to the anime, I'm onboard! But it's totally cool if you just want to watch this on your own, too.
