I have *always* wanted to watch The Lord of the Rings, I honestly wasn't sure what I was waiting for... but man did I not know what I was missing out on. Just by how this first film went, I'd have to say that this has to be one of my all time favorite fantasy universes and I am BEYOND excited to get into the next film... I need to pace myself so I enjoy it as much as possible 😭😭

I hope you guys enjoy the movie as much as I did!!! This was phenomenal I don't even think I have the words the describe how much I loved it. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!! NO SPOILERS LOL

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

I was a teenager, kicked out of the house - homeless. My Nancy took me into her family; my 2nd family. My 2nd mom Zina gave me a set of Tolkiens' books. She had a brain tumor, wasn't expected to live. I read some of the Hobbit to her; she loved Bilbo. I read the appendices and indexes to all the books so I would not get confused as to the many names that were similar. I started reading The Silmarillion and found a place I could escape to. Then read Unfinished Tales, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings many times as I loved the world Tolkien created. I was reading it again two years later, then Gandalf fell and my Beloved 2nd Mother fell, my world fell a part and we all went our separate ways. The breaking of the fellowship. This was in the early 80's it was many years before I could pick the books up again. But I did and read them a few more times. Then these movies came out at the theaters! I went to see the fellowship by myself. Before Gandalf fell - I had to leave. But I went back the next day and lost myself in the movie watching it with Zina. :) Kunia :) Thank you for sharing and you can understand why I have an attachment to this trilogy. But Tolkien wrote other stories as beautiful as this or even better! I hear that Jackson maybe able to do more, and I hope he does just like this Trilogy! I myself can't get into "The Rings of Power" as it seems too 'forced upon the viewer' as far as what they're doing. Like for instance the 'need' to have Galadriel within their story, the hobbits, etc. Khazad Dum is Awesome! For me - your reactions to this trilogy seems the best of all I've seen and you can imagine that I've seen most. LOL :) Kunia :) Thank you and keep up the good work!

Dave M.

YESSSSS!!!!! One of the best trilogies, if not THE best.

TB

Theatrical? Or?..

Dave M.

I loved your reaction as the ending credits came up. Think about how we felt in the theaters! We had to wait another year before the next film was released. And then another for the next. 😂

Anime Wulf

This is the extended edition for those who have yet to start.

It Hurt A Lot

I joined your patreon for this. The Star Wars reactions have been great too

vkunia

Sorry guys I forgot to mention it's the Extended edition!😊

Tiger Chu

All filmed in New Zealand. Very beautiful country

Sean Novack

Charter Member of the Lord of the Rings Fan Club here, did it to get my name in the credits at the end of the films (Extended Edition DVD release, so you'll find it there!). lol Great Marketing idea! So many people took advantage of the opportunity that Enya was asked to write another song to sing during the ending credits while all the names scrolled by!

I recommend the Hobbit trilogy if you want more set in this world after you conclude lotr

These films were filmed in New Zealand which is the home of Director Peter Jackson. The Shire was built for real in a hill side and can be visited today. When Frodo and Gandalf were filmed together, they had special sets built to make them look next to each other, but they were actually far apart, using perspective to make Frodo appear smaller. You should really look up the VFX shots for this film as they are so fun and smart. I know you made a relationship joke between Frodo and Sam, but honestly when these movies came out so many people were making jokes about Frodo and Sam being gay lovers because there was never a beautiful male friendship really shown on screen. So many men grow up thinking they can't show emotion, and so seeing that, they believed there was a secret gay agenda. Peter Jackson started working on this film Adaptation in 1997. Peter Jackson was a very unknown director at the time, but the studio trusted him and greenlight all of these films, before the first one came out. Lord of the Rings changed films forever. The VFX work was world class and groundbreaking. Can't wait for the rest of these reactions.

If you ever get the time, read The Silmarillion. It’s basically a book JRR Tolkien wrote that explains the creation of Middle Earth. All of the world was created by Eru Illvutar (the Middle Earth version of God) and he ruled over lesser gods called the Valar (think the equivalent of Archangels), and the Maiar (think standard angels). Sauron was a Maiar who served the first fallen Valar, named Morgoth. The Istari, the Order of Wizards, are Maiar sent into Middle-Earth to influence, but not directly determine, the struggles of Men and Elves against the forces of Sauron.

I literally haven't seen this film since I saw it in the theater, but it was good watching with you.

Lotr is amazing and your review was phenomenal. I laughed with tears in my eyes when you proclaimed Gandalf as your favorite character in the first hour and again at your shock and anger when the movie ended. Just brilliant.

Niravathu

Yes, Gandalf the Grey is dead.

First comment here, like your videos, your excitement is adorable! One thing about LOTR and the works of Tolkien in general that you seem not to know is, that he worked out the huge (huuuge) background over many many years. You can learn the old languages (he was a linguist) and you can read up on all the myths and legends and even the songs that the people in middle earth tell and sing. And that is what you are feeling when you see the characters interact so natural and realistic. He didnt make up the reactions when he wrote a passage of the story, he just knew how a person that spent his whole life in middle earth would do. Maybe I just dont know of any other, but to me it seems that while the actual story of LOTR might possibly not be the best one there is, it for sure is the most complete world ever written for fantasy. And someone who loves to 'feel' a movie will understand that. One example that you might remember (no spoiler): After they left town with Aragorn, he is quietly singing at night. When Frod asks him what he's singing about, he answers its a bout an elven girl who loved a mortal man and when Frodo asks what happeneds, he just says: She died. You can read that story. It is awesome and the love it portraits did change the world. And you can read the songs that have been written about them and and and.... That is the depth of this story and I dont know any better. Thanks to Tolkien for writing it and thanks to Jackson for investing so heavily into trying to represent it as well as humanly possible.

I love your reactions! I can't wait for the next movie in the series.

MotoDork

This reaction was so cozy.

MotoDork

I don't know if anyone else has said it, but these stories are just one big metaphor for war and what it does to a person, to friendships, and society.

vkunia

Hey RB! I will definitely go to new zealand after this LMAO i wanna visit THE SHIRE LMAO

vkunia

Welcome Dioskur I'm glad you like my videos❤ Honestly, I CANNOT wait to finish this trilogy. I think I might liking it more than star wars 😄😅

tedvoy

Nothing every beats watching LOTR for the first time T^T. I absolutely feel you when the movie came to an end, it doesn't feel like 3 hours passed at all

Dioskur

It was so cruel when we had to wait ONE YEAR between the movies

TaLy___

VKunia : "Thats the guy from the Matrix. How he get here?" :D Meanwhile me in Matrix : "Evil Elrond. I love it." :D

You've got a big storm coming! Enjoy The Two Towers.

Hey Vicky, really loved this reaction and your thoughts. This is one of the most beautiful movie series ever made and I can't wait for your reactions to the rest of the trilogy! :)

Dave M.

Fun fact: the third installment, The Return of the King, was nominated for eleven academy awards and won all eleven of them!!! Including Best Picture. You’re going to love these films!

wait so why is the movie blurred out?

Anonymous

For copyright reasons, she can't show the whole movie uncensored in the video and thus it must be blurred out. You'll need to sync your own copy of the movie with the timer on the video.

Anonymous

No serious Tolkien fan would watch the standard version anyway lol - you have chosen wisely....

I joined your Patreon for this, one of my favourite things in liofe is 3watching these films with someone who has never seen them before and enjoying the thrill they get from such a rich story from the greatest fantasy writer who ever lived. I hope you go on to watch the Hobbit triology afterwards!

How they managed to get all this? Easy, they made it. Every single item was made specifically for the movie, they couldn't just go to the propstore and saying hey, we need 200 elvish armors and swords, 400 orc armor, 2 wizard staffs and all that. Every single item (be it an armor piece or the bucket that looks like it was used to get water out of the well for 400 years needed to be made). And that's really a big part of what makes this movie so great. If you can, you should really watch the appendices to the movies, they are totally awesome.

LordGrailKnight

Welcome to the Greatest adventure ever told, in my opinion. You will laugh, you will weep, you will scream, you will cry for joy and sorrow, and all the emotions at once. Enjoy.

Gandalf the Grey has died. I am sorry, Vkunia. My favorite is Samwise. I will give you a very minor spoiler. You find out more about even the deceased characters in the next two movies. So you understand everyone even more. And I would not say this is all Gollum's fault. It is all Isuldur's fault. He failed to destroy the ring. Gollum merely owned it and lost it.

There were times they had Orlando Bloom in blue contacts and days they forgot them, so Legolas' eyes change between brown and blue often in this trilogy. Gimli's actor was alelrgic to the makeup and his skin would peel off. He had to only wear makeup and film Gimli scenes every four days or more to give him a chance to recover from the allergic reaction. When running into the lake after Frodo, Sean Astin (Samwise) stepped on a piece of glass that went through his foot and out the top. It was actually caught on film and is in the interviews. Every time they had to film Elrond, the actor had pneumonia, so his voice sounds throatier than normal. They took18 moths to film all three movies, as if it was a huge 12 hour movie, thus none of the actors look older in any of the other films. However, this tragically happened at the time of the 9-11-2001 attacks on USA. Viggo Mortenson (Aragorn), Liv Tyler (Arwen), Hugo Weaving (Elrond), Sean Astin (Samwise), and Elijah Wood (Frodo) all being American were very affected by the attacks and the rest of the cast were very supportive of them. This was filmed mainly in new Zealand, and New Zealand still has a replica of Hobbiton (the Shire) that people can visit.

LordGrailKnight

Oh, if you want to visit this amazing landscape, ... you can, it is actually real, its new-Zeland.

LordGrailKnight

So a tiny bit of clarification on Gandalf: He is what is known in LOTR as a Maiar, essentially, he is an angel. He was sent from Valinor, (read as heaven), at the request of what is essentially a goddess/Archangel to ensure that the world of middle earth was able to withstand sauron and his evil. He is VERY powerful, but he is not allowed to use it except in specific circumstantces, Like fighting the Balrog, which was another, fallen, Maiar. However, that kind of fight would almost certainly kill them both. When Gandalf says "I am a servant of the seacret fire," what he is saying is "I am an angel of the most High God" because he is actually one of the Maiar that has the ear of Luvitar the capital G "God" in Lotr

Great reaction! The best I've seen. Welcome to the club.

Doug Watson

You have the best reactions to this film that' I've ever seen! And your guesses were really on point mostly. Good job!

Luis R.

This trilogy absolutely amazing! Such a great set of movies! Really glad you enjoyed the first one. Can’t wait for you to see the rest V! And like others have said if you want more of this world afterwards there is also The Hobbit trilogy.

Jayson Phillips

You are so beautiful! You are like a celebrity to me, if I ever met you i'd geek out! I love your reactions and I too love romance. Can't wait to watch the others with you!

Jayson Phillips

Also, Black Speech is the language used by the Orcs and Goblins and all the Evil creatures of Middle Earth.

Jayson Phillips

All filmed in New Zealand. They filmed all 3 movies and the 3 Hobbit movies there~ If you go there they have the Shire still there you can visit.

khaliqtessi

I know I'm late to this party, but I really enjoyed your reaction to this one. I understand your frustration with this 1st film ending the way it did. Now imagine you saw this in theatres and then had to wait a full year to see the next part... or you could have picked up the books in between to catch the rest of it haha. Love lots, I enjoy your work (thumbs up).
