Blue Star Episode 3 - Progress Report (November 22, 2018) (Patreon)
Content
Don't really have too much to report. Been spending all week lip-syncing. Hit a few snags that took more time than originally anticipated, but overall, I'm very much on-course!
Here is what was reported last week:
- 4 of 4 parts of Liara's dialogue is lip-synced
- 4 of 4 parts of Shadowbroker's dialogue is lip-synced
- 0 of 4 parts of Liara's non-dialogue is lip-synced
- 2.5 of 4 parts of Shadowbroker's non-dialogue is lip-synced.
And here is where things stand now:
- 4 of 4 parts of Liara's dialogue is lip-synced
- 4 of 4 parts of Shadowbroker's dialogue is lip-synced
- 3.7 of 4 parts of Liara's non-dialogue is lip-synced
- 4 of 4 parts of Shadowbroker's non-dialogue is lip-synced.
As you can see, I am pretty much completely done lip-syncing! Seeing as my original schedule had me finishing up by the 22nd (today, if I had written this post on time...), then I'd say that puts me right on schedule!
On a very technical level, I could render right now. But it'd be pretty raw. I've got a lot of polish I still want to do.
Goal for this week is to get all of the detail animation done. Supergoal is to get the lighting and camera choreography finalized, too!
It is entirely possible that Blue Star Episode 3 will be ready to render, in full, by December 1. It'll be a bit of a stretch, but it's absolutely in the realm of possibility now. I will be very surprised if it isn't ready by December 6.
That being said, I do have a few tiny segments I forgot to get recorded. My files behind the scenes for this episode are an absolute mess - something I absolutely intend to avoid when Hiveship rolls around next.
These segments aren't essential, but they'll definitely help make the flow feel more natural. Ivan's been a champ and has put up with me sending him things to record four separate times over the past week, and Innie is hoping to record sometime this weekend as well.
While that does naturally mean I need to lip-sync those, too, that's only maybe 20 seconds total of audio. It's only about 8 lines total, between Ivan and Innie. Like I said, it's not essential. Compared to the 20ish minutes of lip-syncing I've been doing this past week, 20 seconds ain't nothing.
Post picture is the sequence I just finished lip-syncing.
