So I'm really intrigued by your take on Mizu's "revenge" and your being fully on board with it. What wrong is she avenging, exactly? By her own account, it's her birth. And unless I'm misremembering something, it's not as though she's doing it because, for example, a man forced himself upon her mother; after all, she was an actively practicing courtesan. Mizu's reason for hating her unknown father is the fact that she's been discriminated against her whole life for being different, and she blames him as being the reason that happened. After all, if she'd never been born mixed race, then she wouldn't have been persecuted, right? But that's a massive projection. She hates the people who persecuted her, and she hates herself for being different and therefore having been persecuted. The first is a legitimate grievance, the second a heartbreaking but believable result of the life she's had. Neither of them, though, are actually her unknown father's fault. She's simply transferring all of her self-loathing and anger at a difficult life onto this imagined monster. Because an external monster can be killed a lot more easily than either societal prejudice or the white part of herself she loathes. Even if it weren't projection, since she doesn't know who her father is, she's decided to kill all four white men currently living in Japan. Why? Because they are white, and therefore MIGHT be her father. She's fully committed to killing three people who are "innocent" of the crime of being her father, just to make sure that her father dies. And season 1 brilliantly messes with this by making the guy she's going after a genuine moral monster who absolutely deserves to die. The problem is that Mizu isn't going after him because of that. She's not seeking revenge for all the people he's hurt and killed and worse. She's killing him purely because he might be her father, because of his race. And so she's doing the right thing, arguably, but for a completely wrong reason. And so we're cheering for her, but if the writers are clever (and they sure seem to be), there's gonna be a turn at some point where we see the twisted nature of her motivations for what they are. Anyway, just my thoughts. Sorry this got super long.

Ok, I don't think this is a spoiler, just a theory on my part - but earlier in the series via flashback we saw Mizu kill a white woman, I suspect that was Violet and she was one of the four white people in Japan. Further to that - I wonder if she was actually Mizu's real mother and the woman who raised her was one of her attendants, making some Japanese guy her father...
