Regarding the love triangle. I typically hate love triangles, but I was too busy feeling anxiety to dislike it too much for reasons I can't get into until after the season finale. So it kinda enhanced my viewing of the first season. And now I kinda like it in this case after rewatching. It's not super obtrusive, comprising less than a minute of the episode and being mainly annoyed looks. They aren't letting it get in the way of the story.
