Huh, I'm really surprised how many people here rate Babylon 5 so highly. I liked it back in the 1900's, and it absolutely has some Amazing episodes, but I rewatched it recently, and it has so much garbage to wade through. It was brutal. For my favourite I would say it's a toss up between DS9 and The Expanse. Like others mentioned, Firefly (for all it's Glory) was too short lived for contention. RIP everyone *sniff*. As much as I enjoy all the other Star Trek out there (sorry Voyager, not you) DS9 is the only one I can throw on at any time of year and binge over the course of a couple weeks. The Expanse is right there with DS9, it's newer though, so I haven't watched it nearly as much. Though I feel another complete watch with Angela coming along soon. I watched the edits for the first 3 seasons before coming here to watch the complete shows.

They never really had an in-show explanation of why they HAD to jump every 33 minutes, but the best answer I've heard is that it takes fuel to jump, and it wears out systems. If they jumped like madmen the Cylons would find them anyway, but chances are ships would break down much faster and they would be in an even worse position. They waited 33 minutes to see if they absolutely had to jump again.

I grew up with Star Trek TOS reruns and then Next Generation. TNG will always have a special place in my heart. Ronald D Moore, the Executive Producer for Battlestar was a writer on TNG. BSG is still my favorite sci-fi show just edging out The Expanse. Firefly and Quantum Leap are on my list of faves as well. Never could get into Babylon 5 or Farscape though I know people love them. Just wanted to comment on the acting. Mary McDonnell is amazing throughout, but that little moment of catharsis at the end after changing the head count was just beautiful and brings tears to my eyes every time. All the actors do a great job in this series, but they all have their moments of sheer beauty and brilliance. My favorite Commander Adama moment is coming up later this season. I believe you've already seen it at this point, but I will say no more. Still trying to find a good setup to watch your full-lengths since this isn't streaming anywhere at the moment so I'm a bit behind. Can't wait to continue!
