Wow, you’re flying through this season! I’m glad because season 3 is 🧡🧡🧡

Yup! The fact that Ted has it at home means Nate means more to him than Nate could ever know

Angela - top notch reactions, as always. I'm glad we got to see Penny come out for Nate's heel turn. And soon I'll be getting to watch new Ted Lasso with you, and continuing to love your Firefly/Serenity journey as well - it's a great time to be alive. But I did want to give you a big "Thank You" for also shouting out and giving support for the writers that are on strike. With how much the big wigs of the studios have been making since they've stopped keeping up wages and residuals with the major changes that mass streaming brought to the video/show-watching world, they absolutely need to start compensating all these amazing people for what they deserve. You are the best for keeping these incredible people in the background in mind as well (I am guessing that part of it is having a good friend that does amazing work in the make-up/prosthetic/special effects field, but I know most of it is your truly wonderful and caring heart).

Great reaction! Nate's just a mess by the end of this season, and he's earned any ire directed at him, but this wasn't a mess entirely of his own making. On one hand, Ted didn't really spend time with him one-on-one this season. There was I think one scene like that prior to the blowout this whole season, IIRC, which is a difference compared to last season. He saw Ted bring in Roy, and lean on Roy, and consider Roy a "big dog" while Nate's leadership was lightly dismissed. So there's some merit to what Nate says. But at the same time, he's wrong. Ted took Nate's picture frame home and put it beside the one of his son. Nate wanted more credit for his work, so Ted started giving it to him, which I think is part of why Nate was upset near the end at half-time, not wanting to be credited with a tactic that lost them the game and the chance to get promoted. Also why he was upset at the end, because it wasn't really his tactic that rallied them to victory, it was going to the players (Roy's idea), encouraging them, and Ted's Believe poster that they rallied around. He's soured against Ted over the season, in his bitterness, and couldn't stand seeing his misplaced and projected views on Ted being incorrect (Ted is what is colloquially called a "Player's Coach", maybe someone who isn't the best at tactics, but can make a team come together, and make players be willing to run through a wall for him). Hence, him destroying the Believe sign. And of course, there is the theory that Rupert had Nate sabotage Richmond. After all, who changes winning strategy last minute when you're on the brink of promotion? That's super risky and not a great plan. I did like Ted approaching Nate, and asking "What have I got to learn here?", both recognizing Nate's anger and accepting that he missed something. It's something I think Nate could really learn from with his selective memory of how things have happened. Nate wanting Roy to be angry at him for kissing Keeley is also telling. He wants to be seen as a threat, like how he thinks Roy perceives Jamie. But (1) Roy sees Nate as a friend, and (2) a kiss is a lot different than a heartfelt love confession from his girlfriend's ex. It's a hit to Nate's ego that Roy doesn't equate those, because while it was a mistake, it was Nate trying to shoot his shot so to speak, and being soundly but gently rejected. Roy and Keeley reacted how they did because they're friends, but Nate...doesn't seem to feel the same way, or at least value friendship to the same degree as he does chasing that feeling of being wanted. So Nate's a mess. We'll see how things go in West Ham, but I have my doubts things will go swimmingly for him there. He has a lot of growing up to do. Looking forward to your season 3 reactions!

I've watched this show so many times and somehow never noticed the tape on that kid's jersey. I love that :).

Well said. Nate's actions are awful but somehow when I watch him I can't help but see someone who's broken and hurting and I can't quite muster hate for him. But I totally get why he inspires that in others.

I haven’t gotten to this reaction yet (it’s 3 am, I can’t do any more internet now), but I want to leave a little gift in case some of all of you haven’t seen it yet. We know Rebecca can sing…but how about Ted? Here’s Ted Lasso singing “Patience” by Guns N Roses back in 2020 for a fundraiser, completely in character. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ORJ4ki3oUM

Oh wow…you remembering the headbutt with two episodes to go… Also…I’d totally forgotten about the bicycle exchange with Trent! Damn, this writing and plotting is so good! But seriously…Nate. This show has done such an amazing thing, with the positive character arc for Jamie at the same time that they pulled one of the most incredible negative character arcs I’ve ever seen on television with Nate. I watched so many Ted Lasso fans fall into such hate with Nate, and it has been very interesting watching their reactions to season 3. Few shows have the guts to turn a lovable character into a hateable one, and fewer can do it well (glaring at you, Bones). And as someone who deals with so much anxiety and imposter syndrome…it’s so hard to believe in myself. I really need another person, too much. The difference when you know there’s someone you believe in…it’s extraordinary. And to lose it, or just to feel like you’ve lost it…devastating isn’t enough of a word to describe what it does inside your chest. So for all Nate did in this season…I still give him love, in all his hate. And for me…I still need to rewatch the end of episode 5 of season 3 over and over.

Still consistently the only reactor whose whole preamble and afterthoughts I look forward to. Love listening to the way you process these, gives me some great alternate views on things.
