Nate is so interesting to me. I both feel for him and hate how he's acting. The scene with Colin is revealing because his put down is all about status. He places Colin below Dani and Jamie. When Beard (who he looks up to) calls him on it, he apologises to Colin but then takes it out on Will who's lower in status. And it's been there since episode 1. The very first time we see him he's shouting at Beard and Ted about being on the pitch, but the moment he realises who they are he's not just apologetic but kinda grovelling. And then there's the way he talks to Rebecca when they promote him but he briefly thinks she's firing him. First time you see it it's kinda heart-warming that he's so vulnerable. On re-watch it hits differently.

Well said. It's very clear to me that they didn't really plan this arc for Nate before writing season 2 but they still did it in a way that felt believable for the character and building on some things they established earlier. It's just great writing.
