I understand it if your intimidated by Subtitles, but Practise makes perfect. Us Dutchies have been learning to read Subtitles from a young age onwards, and it really does improve, if you can learn I promise you there is so much great media that you can watch that isnt in English! Also man this movie is awesome, I watched it first time together with Natalie Gold and Im definitely not a Horror person but I just said fk it and tried to watch it, if I would get too scared (I am a chicken shit) I could always stop watching, but man that was such a good decision, cause this movie is just Awesome! <3 THIS is why I also love Reactors they make me watch things I didnt even think I would see myself. (Besides also being able to watch something again and living through the Reactor for that feeling of first time watch) Man okay this was quite a rant. Conclusion awesome reaction, and Il be down to watch more Foreign Media with you! (Like Squid Game) But only if you want, There is also plenty of English Media that you can watch.

Oh man, I don't know if I'm ready to take this ride again. It's one hell of a good movie, but damn it hits hard.

I watched this entire reaction and loved it. First time also seeing it. I think you would like squid game as well and I don’t think the subtitles would be a big issue.

Great reaction! I just started watching Chernobyl too; that show is intense!

I'd like to add "the Handmaiden" to the list of recommended South Korean movies and shows! It's fantastic in every aspect!

I wouldn't recommend you watch the animated movie that came before this, Seoul Station, it's bleaker with no feel good characters and a bleaker ending. The sequel to this one, Peninsula, is also skippable as it's just a bland actiony heist movie w/ zombies in the background. The overarching themes of this one I feel were parenting, class, and hope. Parenting from the way the two dads interacted and how they both made the effort of doing what they had to for their kids. You also had the nurturing and protective showcased from Mom trying to care about everyone at the risk to herself. Parenting isn't easy and it requires sacrifices. You had the class structures almost glaringly obvious, from asshole business man to disheveled homeless guy. In the end the message there was that it didn't matter what station or lot you have in this world. Death does not discriminate or judge you by status. Death is relentless, it's comes for us all regardless of your actions. The end is only avoidable for so long. Hope was a little heavy handed at the end with both the expectant mother and the innocent child as the lone survivors. Having the little girl view her father in a better light by singing the song she had associated with him not being there during her recital. Having it Aloha Oe gives you the hope they'll see each other again someday.

Only zombie movie to get you in the feels

ButtyOh

God I've seen this film way too many times

first time watching this film, sooooo good!

This is such a devastating watch. I think the mob hiding behind the businessman are worse than he is. He’s at least owning his assholeness. My Korean zombie rec is the series All Of Us Are Dead. It has a similar feel and pace to Train to Busan except it goes for 12 hours. Another good zombie movie is The Girl With All The Gifts. It’s English and it’s more at the science fiction, post apocalyptic end of the genre but it’s so good. The novel also, highly recommended. Same level of emotional gut punch.

Re: Squid Games. Dooo eeet. Don't be intimidated by the subtitles. Season 2 is right around the corner, so now is a perfect time to do a recap, both on a personal and business level. And I think that we're all dying to see your reaction to some of the major beats of season 1.

Korean movies and TV shows/dramas are top notch. You need to watch more Korean movies and dramas. Some of the dramas I think you would like are Squid Games (of course), All of Us Are Dead, The Glory.
