Kylie as in Kylie Minogue, singer and actress. She sang Never Too Late. If only we could get her on Doctor Who. This episode isn't the best. The next two episodes (two-parter) are among my top ten.

Eddie was, in fact, just an asshole They mentioned it briefly but if they wanted us to feel any sympathy for him at the end, they could've leaned more into him being a bit messed up after the war. It wouldn't have excused any of his actions but at least he wouldn't have been so one dimensional. Charles spent his life working with and setting up various charities for underprivileged groups and the environment. It's a shame the Diana situation has tarnished his reputation for you because since then, he's been a pretty decent guy

Also, a fun bit of classic Who spoiler-y-ness... a bit of spacing in case that matters to Angela or anyone else.... The Doctor was a bit sketchy about the tower because Number Four met his incarnation's end from falling from a similar construction. At least, that was the fan reasoning behind it. I like to think that the writers were cognizant enough of the Classic series to add little bits of fun trivia like that.

Afternoon, Angela. The writer of this ep. is one Mark Gatiss. Note that name well. You making the comparison with Moffat is random because he co-wrote Sherlock with Steven Moffat, as well as playing Mycroft Holmes in the show. He's a talented guy & he has some really superb horror stories for TV under his belt. He's part of a comedic group who wrote a TV show called The League of Gentlemen (not the Sean Connery movie) which has to be seen to be believed. Essentially it's indescribable but really hilarious (and sick. Very sick). That view of Alexandra Palace (or Ally Pally, as it's known) was one I saw a lot when I was at University - I shared a student house nearby for about 2 years. The TARDIS does indeed take the Doctor where he's needed but the Doctor does screw up the navigation on a pretty regular basis as well. I'm not a royalist by any stretch but I do appreciate the day off we peasants are granted for the weddings/funerals/coronations. The Doctor has had/will have/may have interactions with several of your presidents (he says he persuaded Jefferson to include the line about the 'pursuit of happiness' in the Constitution, so that's nice. Shame he didn't stick around to explain the consequences of the 2nd amendment). He also claims to have helped Franklin out with his kite flying in a thunderstorm experiment too. All that and he got to snog Mme de Pomapdour! Not bad for a grandfather (he fled Gallifrey with his granddaughter Susan and hid away in a scrap metal yard in the East End of London. The debut story in '63 is called 'An Unearthly Child'. Beautiful and intriguing. There. Your lesson for today is over.

Angela won't recognise Kylie, so it's pointless playing coy. She's not going to get the kick we got. Kylie Minogue is a massive Australian Pop icon (especially with the LGBTQ+ community) who lives in the UK. She made her debut acting in the Australian series Neighbours before taking up singing, though she still takes the occasional acting role. As with most UK actors, she makes an appearance on Doctor Who, so Angela will get to see her in an upcoming episode, though by then she'll likely have forgotten this. Angela, you may remember one song that charted in the U.S, "Can't Get You Out Of My Head"

The worst thing any Doctor Who episode can be is dull and that's exactly what this episode is. The Doctor and Rose also come off as a bit arrogant and obnoxious in this episode to me. I don't usually say that because I like 10 (who's my favourite Doctor) and Rose together a lot, but they don't work for me in this episode. I also don't like the cop out ending with everyone magically getting their faces back.

I would agree with you about Charles, but that’s kind of his job. It’s incredibly kind of him to give to charities, but that’s what the royal family does. It’s to make up for all the other garbage that’s out there.

I won't turn this into a "well actually" thing I promise 😅 but many monarchys never give anything to charities & he doesn't just give to them, he's responsible for creating at least 19. One of which, The Prince Trust, he used his retirement fund from his military service to set up. He might not've needed the money, true, but i can't name anyone else in the world who's done that if they needed the money or not. All I'm saying is charity was never just a job to him imo

Yeah, and then the very end where Rose convinces Tommy to go after his Father is even worse. I understand why Rose would say that given everything we know about her relationship (or lack thereof) with her own Dad, but I just don't buy that Tommy would forgive Eddie. At least not so soon. Eddie was shown to be a very selfish and abusive man, and we weren't really shown there was anything more to him. Any particular reason why Tommy would have enough affection for him that he would go after him. It sends a really harmful message that abusive parents/relatives deserve to be forgiven because they're blood. Yeah, this episode is pretty bad but thankfully this is as bad as it gets for this era imo. There isn't any other episode in the RTD era as bad as this.

Regarding the “10 years” of his life, classic Who answers that question. The first Doctor died of old age and regenerated into the second Doctor. A “generation” can get old and die from old age, though he would regenerate.
