A very divisive episode indeed, and when I say divisive I mostly mean unpopular. There's quite a tonal shift from A Good Man Goes to War, which is most likely, as well as the time jump in between episodes, a result of the series split. That being said, even if there's issues with it (I for one feel like there's a bit of Flanderization of River's character -- and of course the retcon of Mels is widely criticized), I don't think anyone can doubt it's an extremely ambitious episode in concept and has a lot of momentum. Having probably the most commonly posed time travel moral dilemma be a mere backdrop is certainly a choice, and so is answering so many questions within an overall goofy episode setup. Still a letdown for me, and I felt empty watching it for the first time, still do, but I enjoyed your reaction to it and appreciate the mixed review
