You’re the best, dude 🤟 I might have to start watching Doctor Who to see your reactions on that 🤣

Other people have noticed the perceived contradiction of the Misspelling rule as well, and all I can really say to explain why it wasn't rendered useless when Light wrote the thug's name in episode 1 was that he actually spelled it correctly within the first 4 attempts. So the extra attempts did not matter after he got it correct early, but honestly I don't know. I don't think it's ever been confirmed as such. It's possible that misspelling in Japanese would mean making a mistake in Kanji strokes, so perhaps it doesn't matter that he ascribes the wrong Kanji to a person's name as long as the Kanji is written correctly.

Misspelling in our (Japanese) language means both. Not writing kanji correctly, or writing down the wrong kanji. Or even writing down the wrong kanji incorrectly. Or writing down hiragana/katakana incorrectly. That's the most embarrassing one)) Light wrote like 30 variants of the thug's name in episode 1. One of them must have been correct. Though I do not recall ever getting some sort of explanation for that instance in regards to misspelling rule.

Yeah I always assumed he got it correct within those first 4 attempts as well. Also I’m fairly confident that the notebook being rendered useless means that the person’s who’s name was being written down is now immune to affects of the Death Note.

I think he just wrote all possible variants, starting with the most likely ones, and he got it right in the first 4 attempts.

I highly recommend it. It has some lower quality episodes because its on a 2005 TV budget (and i ain't talking HBO budget) but it also has a lot of charm and some phenomenal episodes. Some of the most creative sci fi ideas i've ever seen have been from it.
