About the Season 4 opening - It's completely spoiler free so don't worry about not having to watch it. Can't wait to see your reaction to it !

I have heard contrary, to me even new character or settings apperences and stuff would be considered spoiler content. But everyone has different metrics. Im personally probably going to wait until im a good bit into the season before I view it.

Delete this comment please, we don't talk about what's in the opening. You typing that is a bigger spoiler for Im than anything else.

Your analysis and breakdown of Floch is the reason you're my favorite reactor. You hit the nail on the head with him. I genuinely like Floch. His POV and mentality is a breath of fresh air in this anime, and in shonen in general. He's a great example of what a REAL person would think and feel in their world. OFC he'd be scared. Anyone would. Anyone reading this who thinks otherwise is either a liar or a fool. Isayama even stated in an interview that he wrote Floch to be that way. He says he's the one that makes their dire situations relatable for the average person. Otherwise, the story would only ever favor the "important" MCs. The opposition is necessary (he said). Floch gives voice to the minority- he represents the side characters in anime who don't get to be vocal since they're not important enough to the plot to really get any big moments. His entire character subverts the "MCs/chosen characters are the only ones who matter" mindset that a lot of animes have. Rarely, if ever, does an anime give the perspective of the fodder. I think it's a breath of fresh air, and it certainly makes the world of AoT feel more real. It's an undeniable FACT that Eren and Mikasa acted selfishly on the rooftop. They attacked their comrades and superiors because of their OWN personal feelings. They think the world revolves around them, and because they're emotionally attached to Armin they act recklessly. And guess what? THERE ARE LITERALLY NO REPERCUSSIONS FOR THEM. They get a few days in the dungeon and that's it. They get off literally scott-free for the BS they pulled. And to be fair, the only reason most watchers choose Armin over Erwin is because of his connection to Eren and Mikasa, and because of his place in the main trio. The world doesn't revolve around Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, and they shouldn't expect to always get their way. But somehow, they always do, and it's always the no-name side characters that pay the price. And as much of a dickbag move as it was, I'm REALLY glad Floch slapped Eren with that truth. Eren's shonen mentality has been annoying since day one, and it's rare to see a shonen MC get a taste of reality. That they can't always have things their way, and that throwing tantrums and shouting doesn't always solve problems.

I think Eren's been aware of that reality for a while now but he has chosen to ignore it. Even now I don't think he really listened to Floch. Mikasa said something along the lines of "There's only a few people in this world that I actually care about" in Season 2 Episode 11 and this pretty clearly rings true for Eren as well. It's not like I can entirely blame them though. Their world sucks and sometimes human sacrifices have to be made for specific reasons, but those sacrifices are people too and they should have a voice. I love that the show has pointed this out, and on multiple occasions too.

This episode, especially the latter half, is one of the series' greatest. From the pacing to the music to the facial artwork, it's an absolutely perfect capstone for WIT studios. I have my issues with their staff but one of WIT's biggest strengths was their conscientiousness when it came to letting a scene breathe, and the journey to the sea is one of the best exhibits of this quality of theirs. Oh, and Floch said nothing wrong 😎

Wolves

As someone whos been in life or death situations before, your assumption that everyone would crumble and cry like floch is not 100% accurate. All it takes is 1 surge of courage and you can feel like you can do anything. Humans are like that. But i get what youre saying, he has valid points. And not everyone is the type head lounge into war. Not a diss on floch or you.

Wolves

I believe escaping death in that instance for floch may have been a rites of passage of sorts for him. If you realize after the incident, he became much braver in not just voicing his thoughts, but in overall action as well. He wants to remain a scout. He didnt just quit. No he doubled down and remained a scout, and forced others to hear what he thought. Now for that I got nothing but respect. Yes I respect the fact he got up dragged erwin all the way to levi and spoke his truth. That takes courage. And now to eren, he speaks his truth. I got nothn but respect for that. Hes going through something similiar Jean did. So even the scared crybaby floch you seem to relate with so much is gone now :) He just a former crybaby representing the other cry babies :)) Ok but putting it like that does seem to undermine all the heroic sacrifices everyone who was not fortunate enough to survive made, i dont actually. Guess id make a terrible leader. Id make an amazing soldier though.

Wolves

Also the fact that pretty much all the people depicted being eaten by titans besides eren were all terrified/panic/denial to me always seemed unrealistic. Theres bound to be at least a few who rage into death defiently, or go in complete acceptence. Or fucking taunt them bitches, even tho they dont understand a thing. Then again, not at all looking down on those who dont have this kind of reaction. Its very human.
