Normally I don't get to scan all of my physical media process stages, since a lot of my sketchbooking is done while on the road for work and such. This one I managed to get more stages scanned since I drew it mostly at home, during my evenings when I'm trying to avoid screen-time so I can sleep better.

I use Webril pads to smudge/blur out sketch lines into a pleasantly grainy haze, then re-draw more corrected lines. I'll do this for several passes until the image takes form, only erasing when absolutely necessary for clarity, but preferring to smudge whenever possible.

Everyone's process is different, but I find this method works best with my particular thought process. It feels more like 2-Dimensional carving or sculpting, as if you're searching for the character in a wintery fog until they take shape.
