“What!?” I yelled at her in disbelief. “What do you mean by that!?”

“I mean that based on my knowledge of Pokémon, you are 100% a girl now.”

“Doctor how is this possible!?” Lila asked, shocked as well.

“I can’t say for certain, but there could have been a chance that the Pokémorph virus changed his gender as well. I’m afraid there is nothing that can be done about that for the time being. We’ll need to keep you here to run some more tests.”

“Tests?” I asked, a tad bit scared by what that implied.

“We’re just going to need a few blood samples, run you through a cat scan and make sure that your body stays healthy for a set period of time before we can even think about discharging you from the hospital.

“And my mother?” I asked her.

“She will have to stay for testing as well once she wakes up,” the doctor said to me. “Her condition and you may help led us to understand more about this virus.”

“Why is that?” I asked, curious about what she was talking about.

“I believe that it would be best to show you., the doctor said, walking towards the door. “Miss, will you help Josh?”

“Of course,” Lila said, picking me up into the air, following after her, while the nurse left to go do her other duties.

A few minutes later we arrived at another room where a shiny Gardevior was laying peacefully on the bed. Her eyes were closed and there was nothing to hint at who she was, but I could tell as if by instinct that she was my mother.

“Mom,” the words left my mouth before I could realize it as Lila brought me closer to her.

“She should wake eventually,” the doctor said to us. Until now all we can do is wait. I will leave the three of you alone for now,” she said taking her to leave.

“Mom,” I said again, reaching my hand stub out to touch her hand. I felt her twitch when I touched her, but she didn’t wake up.

“She’ll be okay,” Lila said to comfort me.

“You’re right,” I said agreeing with her. “She was never the one to oversleep, so I know that she will wake up soon.”

“So, what are we going to do now?” Lila asked me.

“I’m going to stay here until she wakes up and we’re allowed to go back home,” I said to her. “She’ll need me when she wakes up. I’m sorry, but it doesn’t seem that we will be able to go on an adventure together. I don’t want to hold you back.”

“Josh I’m not going without you,” she said, hugging me tightly. “We planned to go on a journey together and that is what we will do. I won’t leave you behind.”

“Thanks,” I said to her. “I don’t deserve you as a friend.”

“Yeah… friend,” she said sounding oddly sad for some reason. “Um, while we wait for them to begin your tests and for your mother to wake up, is there anything that you would like to do?”

“To be honest I would love some clothes right now,” I said to her. “What happened to the clothes I was wearing before I changed?”

“They took them away to examine them for data,” she said to me. “Though I didn’t let them take away this,” Lila said, pulling out the silver bracelet that she got me for my birthday. “I didn’t want them to take it away.” Lila tried slipping it onto my arm, but since it was so skinny now as well as the fact that I had stubs for hands which oddly didn’t feel that weird to have, made it so that it couldn’t stay on.

“It’s alright, we can try it again after you evolve,” she said, putting the bracelet back into her pocket.

“Evolve?” I wasn’t sure if I even could evolve.

“Yeah, I mean you’re a Ralts so that means that you have two evolutions in store for you,” Lila said to me. “Hopefully being a Pokémorph doesn’t mean that you can’t evolve.”

“I guess only time can tell,” I said back to her, “Though for now can we focus on getting me some clothes, I doubt that even if we still had access to mine that they would come even close to fitting me.”

“Do you have any of the clothes that you wore as a kid laying around?” she asked me.

“I don’t, I made sure to get rid of them when I got older much to my mom’s dismay.” I didn’t like holding onto the past, so I got rid of them when the time came.

“Alright give me a minute and I’ll call my mom and ask if she has anything you can wear,” she said, setting me down in a chair before calling her mom.

“Hey, mom. Yeah, he woke up. Sure, you can come down and see him, also can you bring some of our children's clothes for him to wear. Thanks again, see you in a bit,” she said ending the call.

“Alright, she says that she can be down here in about an hour. For now, how about let’s get something to eat.”
