“What the hell is this!?” I yelled at the top of my lungs, waking up Lila as I did.

“Josh you’re alright!!” she yelled getting out and running over before embracing me in her arms. “It’s been three days, no one thought you would wake up!” she yelled as tears flowed out of her eyes.

“Lila what’s going on!?” I yelled unable to maintain any sort of composure. Why did I wake up looking like a Ralts? Was what my father said actually true? Why did my voice seem higher for some reason?

“I’m sorry,” she said wiping her tears away with her spare hand, while still embracing me with the other. “You’re probably in more distress than I am. Sniff. I’m just so happy that you are alive,” she said walking over to the bed with me in her arms before sitting down.

“What your father said during that conference was true,” Lila said to me. “They say that a total of 100 people have been affected by the Pokémorph virus between Paldea, Galar, and Kalos, into different humanoid Pokémon. Most of them are still asleep right now, but there are several that have awoken and are being properly taken care of. They say that since we are in Sinnoh we have some time before it reaches us here, but there were two people that did change over here, both you and your mother.”

“My mother is here, and she’s been transformed as well!” I yelled in disbelief. This had to be some sort of nightmare it just had to be.

“Yes, but you need to calm down,” she said embracing me tighter. To be honest, if she wasn’t here, I would be freaking out more than I am right now. “She is still asleep, and she is safe, though just like you see went through some changes.”

“It would seem that the envelope your father sent you, was covered in the Pokémorph virus, so the moment that you two touched it, you both were infected.”

“But you touched the letter as well,” I said to her. “Why didn’t you change?”

“They say that not everyone is susceptible to the virus. They think that I am immune at least for now.”

“What do you mean for now?” I asked her. “They don’t know if the virus will evolve and start affecting everyone. It’s already airborne thanks to your father. If something is down the whole world will become Pokémorph’s. The only thing that sets a few of the Pokémorph’s apart from Pokémon is their humanoid appearance. Though since Ralts is already humanoid the only thing that sets you apart from other Pokémon is that you can talk.”

“Great,” I said sarcastically. “Now what do I do? I wanted to be a Pokémon trainer, but I’m now a Pokémorph, what does that mean for me?”

“I don’t know,” she said as she kept hugging me. “But as always, we’ll do it together.”

“Doctor come quick it woke up!” a nurse yelled from the hall. “Miss please let go of the patient we can take it from here,” she said trying to take me away from Lila, but I held on for dear life.

“No! Don’t touch me!” I yelled at her. I know she was trying to do her job, but I didn’t want to leave Lila’s embrace.

“Nurse it is fine, let me talk to it,” a female doctor came into the room with a smile across her face as she walked over to us.

“My name is Doctor Rose, I specialized is both human and Pokémon medical care, so I will be with you through your recovery and transition. Can you tell me your name, age, and gender?”

“My name is Josh Dust, I’m 18 years old and a male,” I said to her, without looking at her in the face.

“Your father caused quite the event if I’m putting things lightly,” the doctor said to us. “Though it looks like he didn’t even spar his own family. To be honest, you and your mother were the first two reported to change in the entire world. I can’t begin to understand what you’re going through, but I am here to help.”

“Miss would you mind setting Josh on the bed for me, I need to do a quick check over his body to see if there are any abnormalities with his body,” she asked Lila, who seconds later did as she was asked.

I stood on the bed petrified as she examined my body. I felt so awkward not wearing any clothes right now. I knew that I was a Pokémorph now, but still, I felt totally exposed.

“Hmm, that’s odd,” the doctor said looking at me with a curious glare. “You said that you were a male right?”

“Yes, I said back to her,” confused by what she was trying to say.

“I don’t know a proper way of breaking this to you lightly, but you’re not a male, you’re a female.”
