Yeah for this arc they changed lots of things to approach getting the Merry and recruiting Usopp. However I think that how they've set Kuro is pretty good. There were TONS of Easter eggs in this episode that reference the manga material. I really like how Going Merry was created in this and also Usopp's actor is playing his role well he has the mannerisms of Usopp displayed perfectly 🤥 I also really like how we're getting Buggy, Arlong, Garp, and Coby added into the story much earlier than in the anime. It's one of those smart ways were they are telling multiple intertwined stories at a faster pace.

I'm alittle more critical, I think they did garps dog top dirty. Now it's just a cap. I read somewhere that the show needed an outside force to keep the plot moving so they had garp come in early. Plot wise I think it was a cheap solution. For the plot it doesn't really make sense that such high ranking people would be after them this early. Defeating axe-hand Morgan doesn't constitute sending garp and a warlord.

I love the Garp x Koby stuff. Garp has taken an instant liking to Koby and is more or less trying to make him the best marine he possibly can. Also, this adaptation did a wonderful job of making Kuro scary. Dude is cold, calculating, and menacing.
