Infodump: The shogun Assassination arc is loosely based on the 2nd Choshu expedition, or Summer War of 1866. The shogun, Tokugawa Iemochi (who ShigeShige is based on) launched a campaign to eradicate rebels in the Choshu prefecture. Unfortunately for him, his military was routed by the rebels and he died in the middle of the campaign from heart failure (though there is a conspiracy foul play was involved).
