Damn, the intensity of this episode was off the charts! I can't believe how little of the crew we have left!

This episode is pure art. Amazing how they get you to this point with the characters in only six episodes. Also, is that a new chainsaw man t-shirt I see? Very nice!

Mr.Host

This was episode of the year for me last year. Just fucking incredible.

Is it me or did Maine's design resemble Gamagori from Kill la Kill? There've been a few times where the two were animated similarly. I guess it's not surprising considering Studio Trigger made both Kill la Kill and this series.

When the police show up and Maine says "It's like these guys keeps showing up out of thin air" it's a joke about one of the many problems the game had at launch. If you committed a crime the police would appear right next to you instead of pulling up in a car or something. There were videos of entire tactical squads just appearing right in front of the player and blowing them away (not meant to happen).

Also, Maine DID NOT kill Dorio. She was well past his gun by the time a shot rang out. She was shot from behind by NCPD

If you didn't notice, David was holding Maine's arm at the end there. Not only did he have enough time to get out of the blast zone, he went back to collect on the deal they made in episode 4 before making his escape with Lucy.

From this point on, the show REALLY hits its stride. Buckle up. Also, the fucked up thing about Maine asking if this mess was his fault? It's not. If anything, it's David's. If he hadn't used unofficial software for his class in episode 1, his mom wouldn't have gotten called to that meeting, they wouldn't have been involved in that gang shooting, Gloria would still be alive and Maine would've gotten his Sandevistan. I like to think that part of David's mental breakdown is him realizing that he's the root cause of a lot of this.

This episode hit me really hard when I first saw it too. It really is an amazing show, I'm glad you picked it back up if only so that you could see it yourself. While CSM is great, honestly Edgerunners was for sure the best show of 2022 in my opinion. I'd even call it the best show Studio Trigger has ever produced. Just everything about their Trigger's artstyle to direction to pacing to penchant for over-the-top action all worked so insanely well here. Even the music fits perfectly. Any other year it would have been the top show for sure, unfortunately it was crowded out but a bunch of super hype mainstream titles like the new Bleach season, the final AoT season, the third Mob Psycho season, the new KNY season etc.
