Yeah deep down Rick is incredibly depressed and doesn't entirely care about his own well being. As off the wall as this show is there are some layers to it. Glad you're loving the show, it's definitely up your alley XD

This ep really makes Beth come off as as a bit more assholish than Jerry. Her ideal Jerry is him kissing the ground she walks on and treating her like a goddess.

If had to pick who I prefer more, Jerry seems to have some self awareness compared to Beth. Like the Pluto ep were he chose to give up getting his ego stroked once presented with the fact that the King Flippy Nips was willing to throw his own son in jail (Even if he's a hypocrite on that part) were as Beth just refused to give the dear to the hunter or even let someone else save it just to prove she could.

Their perceptions of eachother are both messed up, though I don't think the manly Jerry is kissing the ground she walked on because she believes herself to be a literal goddess. I think for most women they want a man to treat them "like a goddess", and I think that's how the machine interpreted her interpretation's interpretation lol when in reality she probably just wants Jerry to man up and stop being such a bitch all the time (like worm Jerry). The sentence “Does everyone see what I mean?!” when they create the creature representing how Beth perceives him is showing how he plays the victim — everyone must see how mean Beth is to poor Jerry, to understand how miserable he is, even though the creature rendered not 1 minute before from his perception of Beth was a huge insectoid monster bent on world domination. They can both be ridiculous, but Beth at least isn't a coward or a predator lol She could def do with some more chill like Rick though. She can be obnoxious at times. Also Beth did give up on the deer to save it, there's a convo in the car where she admits she wouldn't let her ego prevent someone from saving it. She's just mad she had to, then ended up saving it in the end anyways thanks to Jerry's plan.

also here is the thing that really damns jerry for me: beths perception of jerry is, while greatly exaggerated, fairly accurate with the general direction it is going. jerrys perception of beth is literally nothing like her. remember beth put her life goals aside to become a mother, when another option was on the table, and married a guy she essentially just had pity sex with, does that sound like an insectoid queen hell bent on universal domination?

Well, Take into account that She does have anger issues at times. it's not completely inaccurate. Jerry could have anxiety, which is why he sees her like that when she yells or scolds him. I have trauma from childhood of being yelled at, to this day, The instant someone yells at or really just raises their voice in an aggressive or scolding manner, I will absolutely see red, or if its someone I like or don't want to become unfriendly with, I will just shut down and be super sad.
