From a certain point of view, Gilgamesh killing them was a respectful thing to do. They said that while they lived he wouldnt put a finger on Illyasviel, so Gilgamesh ensured that what they said was true. What he said about not giving tools "Human Hearts" was that the determination that those 2 fulfilled their duty was more than the humans deserved or could reciprocate. So they were too good for their creators.

And thus Caster further solidifies why she's infinitely more likable as a villain than last Caster. She is literally like, the opposite of him. While the last one loved killing kids. This one shows a disdain for killing them and even set them free when they were being held captive. Not to mention that if you know the story of Princess Medea, you'd know that her story is pretty damn tragic. Medea is very much so not an innocent soul, but damn did she go through some bullshit to end up where she is now. Not gonna spoil her story, but let's say that her lover was a dickbag.

This series doesn't tend to go too deep into a lot of the servant's background stories (at least in terms of the myths they are based on) because they are their actual real world stories, so if you are curious how any of these famous servants (Hercules, Cu chulainn, Medea) ended up this way, check out their real life stories. Gives a lot of context on why they act the way they are in the anime. Medea for example basically scarified everything she had for one man and was then discarded by him after he got bored of her.

I just wanna say that based on her legend alone, Medea is prime waifu material. She is a hot, insanely smart/powerful Princess/Witch who will murder your enemies for you. What more could you want?

I think the first master of caster, what he was saying about her not viewing human lives might be a bit bullshit since she outright told him wasting those orphans (or homunculi, I don't really remember which one they are) was unwise. What's more she let them go after freeing herself of her obnoxious master.
