I think this episode is what cemented Roshi as one of my favourite Dragon Ball characters. It's criminal how little involvement he had in DBZ when he did so much for Dragon Ball.

Roshi saying goodbye to Jackie Chun reminded me of the ending of this video: https://youtu.be/OGm-3LQEs4k "I'll be better than Tao ever was!" -That's not really a hard hurdle*. And I think Tien already is more powerful than Tao was when he died. (*in good-evil aspect)

I kinda feel bad for Goku and Krillin here, about Jackie Chun, not their fight. Since Goku and Krillin don't know Roshi is Jackie Chun all they know is that Jackie forfeited the match for some unknown reason and left never to be seen again. Though it was only a disguise to Goku and Krillin this was a goodbye to an old rival and friend.
