This is actually somewhat relevant to Japan's current criminal justice system. Japan has a criminal conviction rate of over 99%. Japan has very few prosecutors compared to their population, so they usually get a ton of cases and only bring the ones before judges that they think are slam dunk wins. This makes it look like the system is working well, when in fact there are a ton of cases that should have been brought before trial that never were. And since the conviction rate is so high, some defendants may end up pleading guilty in order to get lighter sentences even though they were innocent, because they are sure they'll be found guilty if they go before a judge. Thus you have a system which seems very effective based on conviction rates, but that is only because of the flaws that resulted in it being that way.

That's really interesting. It's always fascinating how a statistic can be very misleading when all the ingredients are added!

I was waiting to see your reaction to the reveal that Masaoka was Ginoza's father. I'd forgotten that it got revealed this early. Given Ginoza's disdain for latent criminals, it makes a lot of sense. It's all linked to daddy issues, he must've been in a really rough spot to have to turned to him for impromptu therapy.

It's fun rewatching this and seeing all the little hints that Masaoka is Gino's dad. But it's no wonder his Psycho Pass is clouding up, half the Enforcers he's in charge of are people he used to be close to
