I love OG Dragon Ball, but watching these again with a more modern perspective really makes you realise just how much dead time some of these episodes had.

Since you already know it’s grandpa Gohan check this out. In Dragon Ball Super when Goku went to get Freiza and was waiting for Baba, He was actually reenacting the fight he had would Gohan. I posted the link on your twitter. Also in Dragonball Z when he realizes that it was him that killed his grandfather he said that when he dies he’s going to apologize to him.

I find some of the changes in dialogue be unnecessary in the anime. Grandpa didn't have any problem hearing Goku chant Kamehameha and instead he was surprised Goku knew the technique in the manga!
