I'm glad someone's reacting to this show. I won't deny the horror aspect of this show is heavily reliant on cheap shock value, but I still think it's one of the best horror animes out there if we're talking about the story

When Misaki tells Kouichi that the class associate his name with death is probably a reference to the real "Kobe Child Murders (1997)" where the murderer went under the alias Seito Sakakibara (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobe_child_murders). 4 in japanese is 四 Shi & Death in japanese is 死 Shi, it is probably bad luck like 13 is in the west.

The reason there isn't a fourth floor, is because the Japanese word shi is the word for death. Sometimes hospitals and hotels skip the fourth floor in Japan. Sort of like how here in North America, they sometimes skip the 13th floor. I don't know if you picked up on it, but Kouichi's aunt is also the assistant homeroom teacher. She cleans up nice, for when she's at school, while dressing like Miss Kobayashi when she's at home. That's why whenever the guys in class talk about her, Kouichi is reluctant to say anything. Because it's his aunt their talking about. A fact the class likely isn't aware of since they share different names. Plus you don't want your classmates thinking a teacher's showing you favouritism because you're related.
