I already liked Katakuri, and seeing the honor he takes in battle only increases my appreciation of him!

Favourite moment in Whole Cake Island imo. I was smiling ear to ear when this happened because it's too fucking cool for an opponent of Luffy to want to even the playing field

J Johnson

Looking back, Katakuri is really the only opponent Luffy has had who has a sense of pride and honor, pretty much all the other guys he fought ended up resorting to underhanded means when the going got tough. I see it as Katakuri taking pride in the belief that he's the best, and when someone interferes in his fight it's basically an insult to him since it implies he couldn't have won on his own. He wants to win on his own terms, not just win.

White Lightning

It’s hilarious that they make fun of Katakuri’s mouth when it makes him look cooler. And he already had a cooler character design then the rest of them to begin with

Aidan

The scene of Katakuri stabbing himself with the trident is my my favorite scene in all of one piece. The honor Katakuri has for the battle man.

This is why I love Katakuri. He doesn't really have any scummy characteristics that exist to make you hate him, he's literally just a badass dude who just so happens to be playing on the opposing team

Anonymous

Yep. One of my favorite moments of the arc and cemented Katakuri as one of my favorites (as if he wasn't already, haha). Also cemented my hatred of Flampe.

Defracto

Katakuri is the most badass middle-aged man living with his mother

Dandy

This whole episode is just a display of how badass Katakuri, Luffy and Jimbei are. My favorite little details in this episode all have to do with the way the animators used Katakuri and Luffy's eyes to convey so much expression. That last scene where Luffy lands his counter against Katakuri, not a single word is spoken, but Katakuri changes his expression, just by changing the way he looked at Luffy, 8 different times between landing his own punch and the end card.

DevilJynx

Katakuri face turn confirmed! He's no longer a villain in my eyes, just an antagonist. Him and Luffy taking out Flampe and her simps reminds me of when HBK and HHH beat the hell out of The Spirit Squad and reformed DX back in 2006. Luffy: Wanna do the thing? Katakuri: Yes. Let's do the thing. *Luffy and Katakuri do the thing!*

GOATKURI, GOATKURI, GOOAAAATKURI

Kamui

Katakuri the new Whitebeard!!!!!

Lewd Angel

"The people on the sidelines are annoying" "They can't stand on their own anyway" And with that the fight was immortalized. Also side note: I know it was only a temporary paralytic agent, but given Luffy's insanely strong resistance to venom and toxins, how was Flampe able to knock him out when he could go toe to toe with Magellan and Ceasar?

V_VMat

That double blast of Conqueror's Haki was so deserved! But I agree with you, she got out too easy.

Andrew Lolavar

I love the way that katakuri takes off his scarf and his jacket essentially his Charlotte family stuff. He doesn't want to fight as Big Mom's son but as a man

Nate D.

So I took all of flampes criticism and evaluated it concisely, and yes, katakuri still scares the shit out of me (and is still my second favorite character in the show so far ;) )

Miasimon

You have to admit that the annoying little audience that they had for this fight, had some seriously huge balls. I mean gawd damn, those nuts must be solid steel 5m diameter balls clanging between their legs. They had the balls to laugh at a seriously pissed off Katakuri. A man who could literally fold them into a triple pretzel without breaking a sweat. A man who's fighting the future king of the pirates.
