julius really is just a cool, nice guy, hes one of the few characters to treat Emilia well from the beginning without even having any pre-established relationship with her - he beat Subaru up and damaged his own name to stop the other knights from killing Subaru for insubordination and he gives Subaru, someone he definitely doesnt like, the proper respect after liberating the world from the white whale

You can definitely see how much Subaru has grown since the "prologue From Zero" episode. Learned to be able to negotiate with other people instead of just expecting them to go along with what he wants, now he's able to admit he was wrong and apologize. Although don't expect it to be smooth sailing even after the character growth, if there is one thing this series has in abundance, it's ways to make Subaru suffer more heh.

I dislike Julius as much as the next guy but I thought in the beginning he was saying he want's to be seen as a common fighter. He was saying he's a knight with prior responsibilities so doesn't want to be seen as a mercenary but showed up to help anyways which is a admittedly considerate gesture. Julius is clearly annoyed by Subaru but I don't think he hates him as much as Subaru thinks he does. Julius keeps defusing their fight as a minor joke and Subaru keeps snapping back passive aggressively like some chick. He accepted the duel and lost. pls Subaru move on man. the guy is here to help fight Beetlejuice so there are plenty of legitimate targets for your anger. their cringy disagreement only started because Subaru thought Julius was moving in on "his" Emilia and Julius thought Subaru was doing a "stolen valor" as a knight. except after their fight Julius actually apologizes for reacting over board even though he won and Subaru keeps egging him on because he feels humiliated. Pls get over this so I can stop defending smug ass Juiceless

That’s not it at all lol, That’s what Julius posed so that Subaru would hate him, the reason Julius started beef with Subaru was because Subaru insulted the knights way of life and the other knights would’ve killed him, Julius literally saved him

agreed. I meant Subaru's "stolen valor" because that wasn't actually his intent. Subaru does plenty of self sacrifice for his cause. He did get bailed out by Julius. It's just not the part I chose to focus on because there's plenty of other things I wanted to talk about and you already made that point earlier in the comments. My point was Subaru has lots of misdirected anger so I'm not seeing where we're disagreeing

I've still no clue where the idea that the other knights would've killed Subaru comes from. If an order of knights is seriously willing to kill someone over self-proclaiming himself as a knight in servitude to a person they admire, then thats just a shitty, petty, dishonorable order. Julius definitely played the villain to try and take the heat off Subaru, but people vastly exaggerate the significance of what Subaru said and of what Julius did

You underestimating what Subaru did, imagine some nobody who is disrespecting you, everyone you know and the people who lead your country just getting up and telling you “hey go fuck yourself, the way you live your lives is wrong, all the people who’ve had selfless deaths for their country lived their lives wrong” And I hate to be the “just go read the novel” guy, but I mean in the novel there is literally a scene where every knight in the room is clutching the handle of their blades And it wouldn’t be petty or dishonourable at all, Subaru really would have had it coming, he literally told the future queen, the other candidates for queen, very knight In the country, all the backers of the kingdom and the wise men who are basically the kings right now to go fuck themsleves Chivalry is basically a religion in this world and not sure if you aware but Victorian-esque people don’t take kindly to people bashing their religion even in our world so never mind lugunica

What are you even on about? None of that happened. Are we watching the same show? The only thing Subaru actually did at the royal selection meeting was, when asked by the old dudes who he was, pronounce hes the man whos gonna make Emilia a ruler, and said that he's her best knight. That is all that happened. Even when questioned by Julius he never acted arrogantly and stood his ground, though he was pretty passive aggressive towards him, at the worst. If simply proclaiming himself a knight, and rather humbly at that after how much Julius drilled him in the room, says everything you said towards all the people in the room then that just reinforces what i talked about, how the significance Subarus words were greatly exagerrated. Also: Plenty of people clench their weapons/fists in anime, manga and novels. its a general body language hint that they're pissed at something, that does not however equate wanting to kill someone. When did he ever, in any context, say that everyone should go fuck themselves, that their way of life is wrong, or that the people who gave their lives for the country lived wrong? I thought there was some detail i was missing from the context of the situation, but that is so far out of left field i can't even begin to imagine where any of what you're saying is coming from.
