Honestly this Anime did good job of setting up our suspicion of Petrov right from the get go. We've been told the whole series that 511 Kinderheim was an inhuman place. And the only other real survivor we've ever met was Dieter's guardian (and we all know he was hardly a model parental figure), so when Petrov turned out to be a stand up guy it's a real curve ball.
